I'm really torn on this question. Most of my Albion supporting life we have been second fiddle to them, and I longed for the day we would sit a division (or more) above them, particularly during the Archer/Gillingham years. I was even disappointed when they didn't go properly bust in 2010 I hated them that much. But now, and after a game like Saturday, I think I would really miss a Premier League season without playing them. Its one of the few games we play that has some genuine spice, and I do fear that if they go it could be a long while before they find their way back. I actually feel more empathy toward many of their supporters than those at the "big" clubs and they seem like a good ally (to TB and PBOBE) in counter balancing some of the silly Prem rules/changes that the mega rich clubs would like to come in to further skew the competition. I actually think Id prefer a long period of whipping them season in season out as they just about cling onto Prem league status.
Hell, yes, I want them to go down. Been spawny for far too long.

I enjoy the rivalry but a couple of seasons without those games with us at least a division above will be quite nice to be honest. I do think they are in a bad way currently and I'm not convinced they would be a straight back up kind of team

let's be honest, if they went down, they are not the draw for investment they think they are, QPR and Charlton would be better options if you were an oil rich magnet or Gangster looking for a London club to grow again and invest in.

However much anyone dislikes the spanners, and revels in their continued decline, the Albion WINNING is what we all live for, surely?
This is pretty much the reason why I * wouldn't * want them relegated. Our win is going to be a highlight of an already very memorable season and i'd hate missing the opportunity for more of the same.

Watching our u21s demolish L2 Palace in the EFL trophy would be hilarious.
This however is a very convincing argument for!

Chelsea are becoming our real rivals, Palace are becoming crawley levels of rivalry
Maybe, but nah, to some younger folk I can see the relevance, just as senior supporters like Harry Wilsons Tackle look at Corinthian Casuals as the real rivals, and Bozza hates Orient, Edna hates Portsmouth, it is all relevant I guess, but Palace for me always will be, with a smattering of hatred for all those mentioned including various northern teams

They're 8-1 to go down. I wouldn't even take 15-1.

After us , they are the second result I always look for followed by Pompey. This tells you and me what I really think of both teams.

Football is cyclical for most teams and fans so I expect a Palace v Pompey league match up soon.

For a rivalry to exist both sides actually need to give a shit. I think you will find that for Chelsea fans we are Hartlepool Utd level of rivalry…..and I’m kind of similar. I look out for their results in much the same way I look out for those of Inverness Caledonian Thistle…not at all.

I think we’re all in danger of sounding like a collective stuck record on this topic. A lot of Brighton fans dislike Palace, I get it. You want them to be consumed by a swarm of locusts, I get it. Some of us (a small majority according to that recent poll) enjoy the rivalry as far as it goes but prefer to direct our negative stares at Chelsea. I’ve no great antipathy towards Palace. Like us they’re a medium sized club with a chequered history and mostly decent, unentitled fans who deserve better. Chelsea OTOH I would love to see relegated.
All Chelsea have done to us is make us better IMO. Once we have a full squad we are better than Chelsea. Who cares about Potts and co, Cucurella, Caceido are greedy twats and Sanchez is an average keeper. Bart will be better.
The proper Chelsea fans must laugh at some Brighton trying to manufacture a rilvary based on transfers., embarrassing.
