Given the (unsubstantiated) rumours about Lloyd and Stevens and Wise, and this season's shambles. how's your confidence in the board getting it right, in most fans eyes, and giving Slade the job next season?

I hop so but this is the Albion we're talking about, who knows what goes on behind closed doors

Brighton factually.....
He has worked wonders after a so called shakey few results, which can be his settling in period sorting the squad out and instilling his own methods. If he does not get the job there must be questions asked of the board, and the only excuse they can come up with for not giving him the job is that they had told slade before he took the job. That they have no intention of giving him the job and its putting himself in the shop window.Otherwise i cant see any reason why he would not get the job.Apart from boardroom pressure.

or im talking poop

I hope so. The players are responding to him, he talks a great game and if he keeps us up I don't see how they can't keep him on.

I voted No. In my view Slade completely deserves the job, through his passion, commitment, enthusiasm and - most importantly - results, and the recent poll on here suggests about 95% of the fans want him to get the job. But sadly doubt very much that DK will feel any kind of loyalty to the manager, even if we stay up.

I reckon we will have another summer FARCE where we tell Slade his services are no longer required but he was a tremendous influence on our season blah blah

We will then go in search of a "big name" that doesnt really want to come here from Scotland or Faroe Islands, but offer him stupid money and the promise of leading us out at Falmer

That person will turn us down, as will the second choice, and we end up grovelling back to Slade, who would have accepted a rubbish job in the time it has taken us to faf around

Slade must get the job in the best interests of the club.

Only Slade wiould be able to assess who should stay, get a new contract or released - that is why he has been to all the reserve games whilst he has been here.

A new face would not know the players well enough to judge where the weaknesses are and those who will never make it.

The thread title should really have been "Do you want Slade to be manager next season?".

I want him to be, but I don't think he will be because I have no idea what the board are planning.

There are numerous possible scenarios..

- Maybe Slade was told that if he kept us up, the job was his next season, but if he didn't, there were no guarantees.

- Maybe Gannon turned the job down for this season but agreed to step in for next. In that case Slade might have been told that, and knew from the start that he wouldn't be here next season.

- Maybe Gannon would be an even better manager than Slade!! We simply don't know. I want Slade to stay, but if he went and Gannon got he job there is nothing to say that it would be a disaster. Gritt kept us up but was not a success after that, unfortunately.

- Maybe all sorts of other possibilities......

Well the way Slade was talking to people at the sponsors dinner about how he wanted the changing rooms laid out at Falmer made me think he might be on the verge of a longer term deal... I hope so, it's about time the club got some stability and I genuinely think he could be good for the club.

Surely Uncle Dick's not daft enough to do something like that again? Especially considering I've heard nothing to suggest Slade has any of the baggage that it's alleged Wilkins has - and there isn't a section of the fans that wants him out like there was with Wilkins.

What a nightmare combination an ex-albion manager who struggled to motivate, a guy with no experience and a pugnacious little shit who would stir things up more than Leon Knight NO BLOODY THANKS. Slade has shown motivation, intelligence and tactical ability, the players gel with him, it' gotts be Slade (Gannon does not want to live down here, or his family don't, he would be a big mistake)

I really want Slade to be are manager next year for various different reason's and if he is he needs to be given a chance e.g allow him a season of mediocrity were we finish mid table. If he stays the Withdean hounds can't boo him and the team like we did with Adams.

what the board decide to do is obviously a different matter but we know if they make a decisions that involves Slade leaving the club the there will be trouble. I have said it once and I will say it again there is only one guy that i would accept over Slade and that is MR Wilkins.

I think that he should be given the job but do the Blooms see this as a way of showing their strength by insisting that it is either a man of their choice or no more money. Does anybody know or have any idea if the Blooms want him or not.

Being as they are supporters of the club and he's doing a good job I can't imagine that they wouldn't.

Yes because I wouldnt trust Ray Bloom as far as I could lift my house. He is the only one of the Archer clan that survived by changing sides midstream and I, even in my obsessed way, have a sneaky suspicion that behind the scenes Archer still has some influence and that possibly the Blooms are his link or even he is their financier.
