Based upon information in the public domain, he is contracted until June 30 2015 (of course, he could have signed a new 7-year contract yesterday for all I know, but the most recent extension that has been reported was the one he signed in February 2012).

Ah okay, thank you. Didn't realise that he had that long left. I thought it expired either next season or the season after next. At least if he does go now, we'd get a very large sum of money come in based on how long his contract is. This may even be for the best, as it would free up funds for Oscar to build a squad of players that he wants, to play to his style.

No, and to be fair it now wouldnt be the end of the world. It isnt him we have been missing the most this season. Its the creativity of Orlandi and the goal-scoring ability of Ulloa.

Get a nice fee for him and invest in the squad - job done.
I'm not so sure about that.

Bar Ince's better games we've not really looked 'solid' through the middle, all season.
That's never been more evident than Monday night.

If he were to return and be competitive very quickly, I think the rest of the attacking unit will considerably improve.

That will be the way forward with the constraints of FFP , sell player(s) to buy player(s)

Depends if he makes a decent comeback for us, If he is still crocked or out of form in January Poyet is hardly going to risk what will be a big wedge to take him to Sunderland as they will need a fully fit and match fit Bridcutt. Sunderland will almost certainly still be hovering around or in the relegation zone in January.

Maybe another club will also come in for him, Poyet is unlikely to be his only option but I don't see him going to anyone but a struggling team so the same proviso as above would still apply, imo.

It also depends if he wants to go

It really, really is. We are missing Orlandi and Ulloa too of course but Bridders is key to being able to shift the ball accurately and creatively from back to front as well as being a 5th defender at times. Those panicky moments at the back? The increased long balls? The not being first to tough challenges? Largely down to no Bridcutt. He is the best and most important player at the club by a country mile.

That said I voted Yes we'd keep him only because of the injury. He will have dropped off other side's radars what with being out all season. We proved in August we're not a selling club and I have a feeling that a couple of the egos that remain at the club would want to screw Ellis Short for every penny he had should Gus want our players. This would leave him agitating for a move which we would more readily agree to in the summer with only a year left on his contract.

Whole I think he's the player we miss the most at the moment, with nothing linking attack and defence and nothing through the middle I reckon he'll be gone in jan. Gus has a distinct style and LB was core to how we played under Gus so if he wants to replicate at Sunderland he will need Liam to pull it off.

That in itself is an interesting question. Played 4-4-2 with a lot of long passes on Sunday and won 2-1!

Interesting way to start the thread @Bozza.
In answer to your question then no, I'm pretty sure he won't be with us. However, this will probably depend on his injury status and what fee would be agreed.

Here
TB said last night "Bridcutt is not going anywhere" .. although he did follow up with " but everyone has a price".

The message I took was that if Gus wanted him he'd have to pay a huge premium and can't see why Ellis would be agreeable to that

I don't think he'll go in January because I can't see anyone meeting our valuation of him then as he'll only just have returned from injury and may not be at his best. If he has a good second half of the season I can see him going in the summer though.

If the player wants to leave to double/triple his salary then no one will prevent them leaving. That is the fact of the matter I'm afraid to say.

Agree about Ince, why i think we could probably afford to let him go - especially if Agustien gets fit again and improves.

Dont see him as the most important player at the club though, that SHIRLEY is Ulloa !?!?
