re the bag thimg, what if you had a tesco bag, but went to M&S- would they make you buy one of theirs, or make you leave??
The checkout operator at M&S would just look snootily at the Tesco bag before putting scanning 10 items in less than 5 seconds.:) Got told off today for leaving single use carrier bags in view of the customers , as it is the interim period for phasing out single use bags and the bags for life have to recommended. Will find it funny when customers shop after June 1st when the re-usable bags for life will be the only ones available at 5p each , or the option of a robust bag at 69p or a Fairtrade one at £2.

I often pack if it's obvious the person needs help packing. For example, i'll pack their stuff whilst they're getting their money out. I always pack their stuff how i would like my stuff to be packed.

The questions asked at the till for extra goods are put in place for the company to make extra money. The calculations of, 'well if, say, 10 people buy something extra from you at £2 a pop, over the day. Well then there's x number of tills, x number of days in the week, blah blah...'.

I tend to pack my own bags because I don't want to be standing there at the till doing bugger all.

Also, i agree that some people should realise that more often than not I have little control over the running of the store. So if they stop doing your favourite apple pie, then yes it is annoying, but don't complain at me. I didn't make the decision.
