Of the 'newer' ones, I thought Tombstone was tremendous entertainment, Val Kilmers finest 2 hours.

I think you must be forgetting Top Secret!. Even at only 90minutes it still manages to be Val Kilmer's finest 2 hours.

Man With No Name triology about it for me. Tried watching 3:10 to Yuma because it's rated as a good flick and was on TV the other night, but turned off after about five minutes.

I've only recently come to like Westerns. I was forced to sit through The Good, The Bad & the Ugly and A fist full of Dollars when i was younger. I didn't really get it, found it a bit boring.

More recently i've enjoyed 3:10 to Yuma and True Grit. I've yet to go back and watch the Eastwood films, but it's deffinately something I'll do.

Also, for gamer people, while not a Western film, Red Dead Redemption (xbox/ps3) has a great story. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

My favourite Western is 'Paint your Waggon'. It's also, by a LONG way, my favourite Clint Eastwood film.

This probably isn't the thread for me.

(Although Blazing Saddles is indeed a classic and my favourite Mel Brooks film)

I LOVED Red Dead, completed it on the PS3 a couple of weeks ago. I've now started Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare, which is good silly fun.

Fair shout, but nothing beats his Doc Holliday.

"Hey Doc, where's Wyatt ?"
"He's over there. Walkin' on the water".

Nothing wrong with Paint Your Wagon. I watched it again just a few months ago. Some great scenes in it, not least of all when the innocent young kid gets educated in the ways of women and liquor, and turns out to be quite good at both...

I'm surprised no-one has mentioned "The Magnificent Seven". One of my favourite westerns.

I watched Seven Samurai a couple of days ago, which I quite liked, but thought it was a little long, but it definitely felt like a film that would work as a western (it's the film the magnificent seven reworked/remade)

Anyone else seen Red River, MR Wayne and Mr Clift both in it. Great story/journey... herding a herd(!) through Injun territory...

An honourable mention should also go to the TV mini-series "Lonesome Dove" starring the great Robert Duvall and Tommy Lee Jones.
