About 4/5 years ago, I was on a school trip with an older colleague of mine, whom I'd known quite well for a few years - 'Mrs Ashworth' to the kids. We ended up talking about football, of all things, and when I said I supported Brighton, she informed me that her nephew was the Technical Director!

The best of friend of my mates little brother was a great nephew of Ronnie Corbett. He was much younger than me and genuinely didn't appreciate quite how famous he was.

The line that became famous in our friendship group was when he said 'my Uncle used to be on TV, you might of heard of him...Ronnie Corbett'

I knew the son (he has since moved out of town) of Engelbert Humperdinck. Didn’t talk about his dad apart from me to mention my favorite song of his was “Green Green Grass Of Home”.

I used to live around the corner to Englebert's sister and her husband when I was a kid/yoof in Leicester and was friends with one of their daughters. She never said anything but one of my mates told me. I remember a bloody big roller outside their house one day, I assumed he was visiting but I only knew his name from Les Dawson (I think) taking the piss out of his name.

Les Dawson, now there’s a blast from the past.

My brother-in-law is world-famous and (I think) seen as the absolute best in the world at what he does (did). Problem is, it's so obscure that I've only ever met one person who has ever heard of him. Partly because I don't move in those kind of circles. I was with him when he got recognised in Waitrose in Haywards Heath though, so that was exciting.
I don’t know if this one person is me but I know who you’re taking about; the wife and I are fans. I’ve seen three of his works, and actually had a brief chat with him after the last time I saw him. Without doubt he’s the best in his genre, and a thoroughly nice guy from what I can tell from a few minutes of talking to him.

Loosely related, but just after their first album had gone massive, I went to a birthday party at the ten pin bowling place in Finsbury Park of a girl I’d met while travelling. I only found out later that all of Coldplay, minus Chris Martin, had been there, and I’d actually played on the same lane as two of them. To this day, I still think I’d only recognise Chris Martin.

To answer the specific question, the Frau works at a school with the children of some famous people, so she knows people who are related to famous bods. One is a very well known contemporary visual artist, at least two are musicians I own the music of. Another is a known illustrator. There was also an amusing moment when die Frau had run out out of something, and a kid piped up that he could get some….as his dad is the CEO of the company which manufactured this item.

Recently a friend of my boy was chatting about his family and mentioned he'd never really met his grandad because they died while he was a baby and that he didn't know much about him but thought he had been an actor.
Oh what's his name I might have heard of him?
Being a responsible sort these days I kept a straight face, didn't let any expletives go and volunteered no information when he replied
