Do you know anyone who's changed their name?

Can it really be this easy?

UK Deed Poll Service - How to change your legal name by Deed Poll

There was this bloke on Danny Baker's show this afternoon, who said he was calling from Brighton, saying how he changed his name a while back to Jerry Valentine and how he's been fighting the birds off ever since.

I reckon this would be great (the crumpet a bonus.)

Yours sincerely

I heard someaone say a while back that you can change your name any time you like, so long as you advise everyone who needs to know, Banks account, Coucil tax etc, then you can just do it. Not sure if it is the case, but it is what I heard.

I can never understand why people would want to.

Oh I thought this was for chaning your name on here! :dunce:.

...On that subject, I do want to change mine, I only made it quickly for a joke for one post, didn't realise I would be posting a lot more than that.

my daughter. we called her something and then realise that we had made a huge mistake. it really was as easy as saying we no longer want her to be called X change it to Y please, fill a form out and then it was done.

I did, and my entire family - both parents - not remarried, and my brother. Our surname was my dad's father's name (whom he didn't know) and so we reverted to my mum's maiden name as her father was like a father to mine - when he died we wanted to remember him and honour him by changing our name.

It was easy as far as I remember - I was 21, so had lots to change, and I still need to produce the Deed poll certificate for certain applications from time to time.

I have never used the first name on my birth cert, right down to getting a passport issued without it - required getting an extra form stamped by the police first time around.

Still using a variation of what I was given when I was born, though, so its not quite the same really is it...

I used to hate my name, and thought as soon as I can I'm going to change it, but as I've got older I've kind of grown to like it..

Just thought I'd share that with you all :)

I do. I used to work with an Aussie girl who's visa ran out when she worked for another company. She went home and changed her name and came back to work for the same company as me with a fresh visa. I only found this out after she had left though.

Thats what I did when I changed mine

In the same vain, you can change your name without cost or notification, just so long as it not to defraud, know quite a few people that have changed their christian names, not to nick names.
for instance guy a bloke i worked with for years who was always called Ken, 15 years later a letter arrived for his surname but addressed to "Keith" when i made a comment about it, oh my name is Keith , just prefer to be call Ken.

Just register again and have two accounts, this is what most of the main wind up posters on here do. allegedly

I actually know quite a few people who've changed their name. A mate of mine was called Scragg and his fiance refused to marry him until he changed it, so he became Saunders.

Another woman I knew changed her name from Spittle to 'Quintas' of all things.
