Was Gus right when he talked about 'hitting the ceiling'?
Given that the club has a strict ethos to comply with FFP; will the club challenge the FA on any punitive sanctions imposed on other clubs who have flouted FFP yet have gone on to success in the EPL thereby making a perceived mockery of the regulatory framework?
The question in bold above is a VERY good one, IMHO.
Do you miss Gus?
And ObikaFor us non-financial types, please can you explain HOW the playing budget for the season just gone was increased from the year before. I just don't see how this is possible despite it being repeated by you and other members of the Board.
Last summer, we let go of Dicker, Painter and Vicente as well as the 2 loan players: Hammond and Bridge
And Obika.j
These were replaced with Agustien, Ward, Andrews (no fees involved). Therefore at this point, the wage bill surely had to be lower for this season.
And Obika
Since then, we have got over (?) £4m in transfer fees for Bridcutt, Barnes and El-Abd and have saved on their wages.
We brought in Dale Stephens (£500k?) and Rodriguez and Lingard. I would guess wages for these three are probably below the combined wages of the 3 departing players AND we've got net £3.5m in transfer fees (actually more than that as the £500k will be split over 3 years from a P&L basis).
So how does that equate to us having more money for the playing budget unless there is a LOT of cash left over for spending now?
