I would like to invite LB or others with expert knowledge on transport matters to explain how a 30000 crowd can be transported, before any need to expand .Although the staggered fees for CMS etc perhaps need the extra seating to help pay the installments.

With respect to LB, some of the dire predictions of utter chaos haven't actually materialised so I'm not sure theoretical assumptions about the effect of a 30000 crowd should carry much weight.

Supposedly not, the attendence is on how many people process tickets via the turnstiles not how many tickets have been sold for the game

I don't think that's true. Tickets sold are counted for tax purposes. I may be wrong, but that is my understanding.

I wouldn't think that's the case. I'm sure on the Health & Safety issue the club have to be aware of who is actually in the stadium. The swipe system of season tickets and those sold to non-season (but registered) ticket holders provides not only the 'attendance' but information regarding who is in the stadium at any one time.

I don't know how it works for away supporters though.

Sounds plauseable (sp)?

funnily enough i was talking to someone about this who is a gooner and he tried to get a ticket for Liverpool game but it was sold out. The capacity is 60432 and saturday's gate was given as 60090, but anyone watching could see there were a lot more than 300 seats empty. He reckons they 'always' give the gate figure as number of ST's + match tickets sold + away fans, i.e. any STH not turning up still get's counted. Very creative......
.

They definitely do that. I was at the Huddersfield FA Cup game last season where there were comfortably 15000 empty seats but they still gave the crowd as being 60000ish I think. Whatever the crowd figure was, it was blatantly wrong. May not matter to Arsenal but it meant that 'officially' it was some sort of FA Cup record for Huddersfield... even though it was blatantly not true.

My brother-in-law is a seson-ticket holder who didn't buy a ticket as he expected to be away yesterday. When he was suddenly able to go, he tried to get a ticket online and on the phones all day yesterday but couldn't get though, then went to the ground immediately after work only to be told that they weren't on sale. I'm guessing there are plenty of people who would like to get to games but are finding that the system isn't helping them.

He cant have tried that hard, I logged into the ticket site about 5 times yesterday, and the waiting time on the phone was about 5 minutes. That's just people not bothering to go to any effort whatsoever to get a ticket.
