How is that the delivery person’s fault - you’re punishing that person for a corporation’s mistake? They bought the delivery, deserve a tip. Tight *see above*.

It isnt the delivery persons fault at all. But no way would I tip if I didnt receive a product, dont care who's fault it is, nor would I normally tip if I have already paid a service fee on top of a delivery fee. I'm talking about if I order just for me here and I'm already paying a 25 % markup on the food. That's the business model which is wrong. I would likely tip if I ordered a family meal and it was all good, though generally if I was to do that I would order direct from a restaurant anyway and if they got it right

I'm definitely not a tight arse, a generous tipper when eating out, and give generously to the homeless, but for me, when ordering a takeaway for one, adding a tip on top of all the other charges makes it too much

Yeah it depends on the restaurant and what you spend. Eg if I order McDonalds from just eat and it is less than £7 then it is £3.99 delivery, over £7 then £2.50. Then they add something like 79p service charge too. If I ordered from Taco Bell, it about a pound delivery irrespective. Then Uber Eats and Deliveroo vary as well, something similar though. So your £10 McDonalds order would be 13.50 ish on Just Eat, more like £15 on Uber Eats. Probably varies town town too

So a 50% mark up ( at top rate ) and some on here question if technology is causing more people being poor.

My daughter got given £5 from her grandad , so that evening she ordered a McFlurry to be delivered , that was her £5 gone . A lazy 12 year old . She wouldn’t be doing that if I was living there that’s for sure .

And here lies the problem to our society.

im curious if tippers give a tip to their other non-food delivery drivers?

I was also wondering is it the done thing to tip when having your supermarket groceries delivered?

ps..... if you tip always tip in cash not by card

Disappointing.

... and the Amazon delivery drivers?

I don't have takeaways (or groceries) delivered, but no, I wouldn't tip the delivery driver. And no, I don't tip the Amazon delivery driver who is also working for a shit wage. Certainly as far as food goes we don't want to end up like America where hospitality workers wages depend on the whims and financial circumstances of their customers.

Yes I always tip in restaurants, but then I hope a proportion of that goes to the people in the kitchens not just the person delivering the food to my table.

Pay higher prices so the workers can get a decent wage without having to rely, as I said, on the whims and financial circumstances of their customers. Those of you who do tip, and I accept you are doing it with the best of intentions, are just helping to keep wages depressed.

Yeah, but, does the food arrive hot?
Nowt worse than a soggy bun with a luke-warm slab of burger in it.
I'd guess if the product is more than 10 mins in transport, quality must take a hit?
