I don't blame him. McGhee was clueless and played him as a sub, or out of position, more often than not - before falling out with him and getting rid.
Brighton was the low point of his career, and we missed a trick

He was poisoned by Leon Knight when he was at the Albion, thought he could arse around in training, and only try in matches when in the mood.
Anyone who thinks he is 'great' after 23 goals in an 8 season career is clearly bonkers.
True, but he has gone on to have a very decent career, unlike Leon Knight. McGhee couldn't get the best out of him and it was a shame.
I agree he has had a decent career, but I don't think anyone has got the best out of him as despite his talent, there is a lack of application.
He scored more goals for McGhee than any other manager in his career. Some people seem to want to use him as a stick to bash McGhee (I'm not necessarily including you in this BTW).
Even under Colin Wanker at Sheffield United he only scored once in a season, and was usually on the bench.
He was an egotistical lazy teenager, who wasn't prepared to fight for the place he felt was his by right. Which is a shame, as he clearly had / has a lot of talent.
He will always be remembered for that goal for Fenerbache against Chelsea though.
