That comment doesn't really tell us anything. Although, I guess it is all about how you interpret the word 'foreseeable'.

"White is here for the forseeable future"

I am guessing that the future, in playing terms, is only foreseeable until the new manager comes in. In which case, Knight is telling us the White will remain in employment at least until a new manager takes office. We already knew this.

Difficult for Knight to say anything else under the present dire circumstances.In the absence of a manager,someone has to take charge of the team and Knight can hardly come out and say...'keep us up Dean and you shall be rewarded with the sack'......Although that may well be the true position!Anyway,forseeable future is a fairly meaningless expression,especially when we are talking about the Albion and its managerial record over the past few years!

You want Martin Hinshlewood running the team? I'd rather White do the job or have you forgotten Hinshlewood's last spell in charge where his leadership got us relegated?

However Hinsh is unbeaten as a caretaker manager, going all the way back to 1993.

I hope the new manager has free reign and decides whether he wants to keep the current backroom staff or not.

Although as said earlier, White does know the perceived strengths and weaknesses of the current squad, so it may be advisable to keep him on until at least the summer and then look at things afresh.

To be fair to Knight he may have been asked about Dean White's future and he can't say he will be out of the door the minute we get a new manager. I think they may keep White and Booker on for the season (hopefully not in their current positions) and then let them go in the summer so the new manager has someone who has been here a while to talk to.

I'm not sure it would. He has got to outwardly support White while he is still caretaker manager. Anyway, Dick Knight said last week that the new manager would get to choose whether they kept on the current staff or brought in their own.

Don't get me wrong, I agree completely with you about White and Booker and hope the new manager will bring in his own staff. In fact I think that if they had been given the push when Adams was still here we could have saved ourselves some money, kept Micky and brought in new coaches.

Maybe, just maybe, the people within the club know a lot better than you or I how well Dean White is performing in his role. Perhaps it's just the fans who make up bollocks about an old-boys club as another poor excuse for criticising Knight, White and Booker.

My thoughts:

1. Dean White is not the immediate problem. He was not employed to be a manager and has never pretended he has what it takes, therefore no need to be critical.

2. Booker is Adams' No. 2 through and through. Knight's silence on his future indicates that Bob knows he's off.

3. It would be ironic if Knight appointed Pardew. The rehiring of Adams, Booker, Virgo, Hart, Mayo and Carole, plus the attempted signing of Currie, all seem to suggest Knight was seeking to recreate the Albion identity of old. However, the complete opposite of that is surely the appointment of Pardew?

At least if Pardew signs, he will convince us all that we are in fact the best team in the league and that we are the real champions.

The new manager should decide & be given the ability to decide rather than being forced to inherit a back-room team that they do not know / have faith in etc.

Just look at Zola bringing in Clarke at West Ham - now they're far more difficult to score against.

The Back Room team counts for a lot & I have never been convinced with White & Booker.

However, until a new manager is appointed, we appear to have no choice sadly.

No offense but from what I have heard about Pardew He cost Charlton a lot both financially and league position - I don't think Knight wants White to go because to me he is nothing more than the spy in the camp - he must be - managers come and go but WHite stays?? can only mean one thing "Arse licker"
