Dick Knight: "White to Stay"

From the Argus:
Meanwhile, Knight has praised the job being done by caretaker Dean White, who has taken four points from three games since Micky Adams left by mutual consent.

Knight said: “Dean White will be here for the foreseeable future. He is doing a splendid job and we are not casting him aside. His spirit and determination to help the club has been tremendous.”
(Albion close in on new manager From The Argus))

It says he'll stay, but doesn't indicate his role.

Thoughts?

I'm guessing bacon and sausage

Depends on the roll. A long finger roll would work, but a bap with a sausage doesn't. :p

I realised the mistake and must have been editing while you quoted me.

What do people expect DK to say? "He's out as soon as the new man is appointed" so White doesn't give a shit about the job while he's still doing it?

We have a director of football, he should have taken over the team affairs until a manager was appointed.

You want Martin Hinshlewood running the team? I'd rather White do the job or have you forgotten Hinshlewood's last spell in charge where his leadership got us relegated?

And Booker? He's stayed silent on Booker's future, why couldn't he stay silent on White's future?

But he was in charge for less than 16 games! How can you blame him?! ( ;-) )

Here's a radical thought.

Maybe Dick has a better idea as to whether White is good bad or indifferent at his job than NSC does.

Just a thought, like.

AND it's going to be a pretty steep learning curve for a new manager without at least one person around who knows the squad like the back of his hand - which is time we just don't have.

We HAVE to stay up this season, because we have to be in the Championship to fill Falmer - and two promotions in two seasons is only do-able if you have a Zamora, IMHO.

My thoughts:

1) What about Booker?

2) "Foreseeable future"? Does that mean he's open to firing him if the right manager comes in? We can't really foresee, right now, who our manager will be next week, so the "foreseeable future" isn't necessarily the long term that it might sound on first count.

3) Because of the ambiguity expressed in 2), is it simply an attempt to give a bit of confidence to and settle the current set up?

4) Or Is this a case of protecting friends?

5) What does white actually contribute? Does he design the training sessions, or does he execute the manager's designs?

6) Is this good or bad, I really can't decide...
