I could give you a million reasons why this club should always hold Dick Knight in high regard, but here are a few reminders of just how far we've come....

The Pissfield, Gillingham

Losing 4-0 at home to Darlington

Marco Gabbiadini scoring hat tricks against us

Crowds of less than 2000

Damian Hilton

Glenn Thomas

Finishing second bottom of the entire football league 2 seasons in a row

Getting knocked out of the FA Cup by Sudbury Town

It's a crappy day folks, but everything is relative. Dick Knight is the only person who was prepared to take this club on, so let's thank him for that, and hope something happens with Falmer soon so that we're in a position to hold on to decent managers and players in future.

(still f*****g hate Reading though).

There was also Tinslehead, never forget that one, but we all make mistakes I suppose. Lets just hope we learn from them.
I agree DK has done wonders with the club and long may it continue, regardless of who is the manager.

I know that this board is about opinions but, IMHO (!), anyone who constantly complains about DK is a sandwich short of a picnic. As far as I'm concerned, he has made one major mistake which was Hinshelwood. He had the courage to fix that before it went too far. Maybe he should have done it sooner but which manager would join a club that sacked it's last manager after 2 months?

Does anyone honestly believe that Coppell was only ever offered a one year contract? It was obviously a compromise to get a bit extra from him rather than lose him in the summer. If he goes, good luck to him. At present, Reading are a bigger club than us with better facilities, better players and more money. Hopefully, in a few years, that will be reversed but managers aren't in it for sentimental reasons - they are in it to pay their mortgage. If a better offer comes along then they would be mad to turn it down.

How many of the DK detractors would turn down a job offer from a rival company where they were offered more money, better tools to do the job and better surroundings to work in?

How many of the DK detractors know anything about putting in a planning application for a large scale project such as a stadium?

How many of the DK detractors would put their hand into their pockets and give the same percentage of time and money into the club?

How many of the DK detractors would stay in a job where they were subjected to unfair abuse from mindless idiots such as FG?

We have one of the best chairman in the league. He is part of a rare breed - a lifelong fan of the club he is chairman of. He has the business nouse not to bankrupt the club. He's not perfect but I wouldn't swap him.

Spot on Great Cornholio.

never, ever forget we once had to watch the Damian Hiltons of this world in one of the shittest, pikeyest towns in Britain.

As someone once said, we've come a long long way together, through the hard times and the good...

"Dick Knight, you saw me standing alone,
Without a dream in my heart,
Without a love of my own,

Dick Knight, you knew just what I was there for,
You heard me saying a prayer for,
Someone I really could care for,

Brighton! <clap clap clap> Brighton! <clap clap clap>"

I'll get me poncho...

Dick Knight's Blue & White Army.

Managers will come and go (regularly it seems  ) but Dick is a fan like the rest of us, and he'll stick around.

Devote your support to him as much as Coppell.
