You have never had proper Spotted Dick or any sort of suet pudding unless it has been boiled in a special cloth tied up with string.
This is the way I made it at the Scout Camp at Small Dole in 1957, to obtain my Scout cooking badge. Over an open wood fire!

Seeing as it is one of the puddings I cook when I am trying to impress...it has to be lemon meringue...but it is really hard putting that in front of B&B or summer puddings, both of which are wonderful.
