Morning all, Rams fan in peace. I noticed the queries about our away following and I'm sure some of the factors already mentioned are relevant - being able to pay on the day would probably encourage a few more to come because some fans can't plan in advance due to work, family stuff and so on - but I think a big factor in the relatively poor numbers is down to our piss-poor away record since relegation in 2008. Many fans have just got fed up of poor away performances and results and our general struggles in the past few seasons haven't helped either. We generally haven't played badly away this season, but the results haven't reflected that and we've had problems scoring on the road. It will take a period of gradual improvement to change the situation I reckon.

Anyhow, I'm paying my first visit to the Amex on Saturday and am looking forward to seeing the stadium, which has looked impressive when I've seen it on TV games. I never went to the Withdean, but remember the Goldstone from the 1980's (although the last time I was there, it snowed/sleeted which wasn't great when stood on the open away terrace!). I'm expecting a tough game and would be very happy with a draw from this. I suspect the result will hinge on whether you take your chances and/or whether we can manage to defend properly for 90 minutes. Both teams seem to be coming into a bit of form however, so it's a tough one to call. Either way, let's hope it's a good game.

Funny how your away form is poor as I thought you looked decent at Forest earlier in the season.

Have a good day out, it's a cracking stadium & City. Part of your ticket price covers local transport in quite a wide area. No good if you are coming down on a special coach or have bought a train ticket straight through to Falmer but should you be driving then you can park up & use local transport for free.

If you don't fancy drinking in Brighton then Lewes is very near, parking is easier and it's just 5 mins on the (free) train. Lewes is a small town with loads of pubs!

If you are able then hang around for 30/60 mins after the game and have a pie/beer or two and avoid the queues. You are also able to visit other concourses and drink with the home fans and this policy has not seen any trouble at all from real fans (The likes of Millwall, Leeds, Palace etc are still in the dark ages).

Finally, having enjoyed our hospitality I hope you are able to travel home and refect on what a good team we have and our not too bitter about getting beat....well, that's the plan!

Cheers for the advice, I like a drop of Harveys and Dark Star so I'm looking forward to a few jars - the beer is probably the most reliable part of the day! :drink:

Funny, they think we kicked them off the pitch

We haven't played badly in most games, but we don't have a water-tight defence and we don't seem to create as many chances (or take them) as we do at home - too much fannying about at times. That said, Michael Jacobs has come into the team recently and is a more direct player, always willing to run at defences and shoot, and I think Clough is trying to encourage the others to be more direct at times. Scoring two goals away from home is rare for us, so if you score three you'll almost certainly win!

If you score first you're guaranteed at least a point!

As I started this thread I might as well end it.
I stand by my original comment we played both forest & Leicester in the winter months last season & they both bought over 2000 supporters.I am however confused by our ticket allocation to visiting teams this season.with an increased capacity it seems we have decided to reduce the allocation our opposition receive meaning that clubs we play against must stagger the sale of tickets to ensure that the most loyal fans get first dibs on tickets thus meaning fans who only go to a few away games a season probably see the allocation the club have received & think they will not be able to get a ticket so don't bother trying.

Palace at home should be interesting

If it's Dark Star you want then the Evening Star is pretty close to Brighton station, although not obvious, it runs parralel and to the right of Queens Road, which is the road from the station to the sea. Brighton station to falmer is less than 10 mins but trains become packed the later you go.

is it that difficult to understand that some teams just have better away followings than others? sometimes there isnt even a valid reason but it's just the way it is!

Derby do not have great away support compared to their homes gates and i'd say 1000+ is respectable and over their average..it doesn't matter what Forest did, imo Forest have better away numbers than Derby.

instead of the anti palace and taking a dig at some other teams why don't we concentrate on ours......we have the option of 4000 for Brum and Sheff....will we get close to either???

We will take 2000 to brum & over 1500 to wednesday plus remember that the championship this season is very northern.

Boro
Blackburn
Burnley
Leeds
Barnsley
Hull
Forest
Derby
Leicester
Wednesday
Wolves

That is 11 clubs that are all over 180 miles away from Brighton.
I would be suprised if any teams have to travel further than us this season (maybe Cardiff)
