I wonder if there would have been a different outcome if Ryan Giggs was still the boss.

Surely from the Welsh FA point of view is after Euro 2016 and this you try to push forward and build on. Just get to the Finals.

We see the ‘taking one for the team’ sorts of tackles every week in the leagues, in fact we generally applaud when one of our midfielders stops a counter attack with no intention of winning the ball.

Really lazy tackle but doesn’t meet any of the criteria for a red card.
The " One for the Team " tackle is usually a shove or a barge or falling and pulling the opponent down. I thought the tackle from behind is still illegal in the game? Particularly if you don't get within 2 ft of the ball.

There was a much worse one as Cornelius raced forward and was taken down from behind. Not every tackle from behind is a red mate, honestly.

VAR was working well at the start of the Euros, going downhill recently, that recent French penalty and Welsh red should have been overturned, quite obviously mistakes by the refs

Edit: and the 2nd goal should have been chalked off imo, quite an obvious foul missed.

Even in the PL we can have a couple of weeks where there's nothing too controversial and nothing comes up, and then we'll have a load of absolute bullshit within a week. With the technology and rules as they are there's no entirely satisfying way of applying it.

Never a red? Tackle from behind that took the Dane's back leg out and was 2 1/2 feet from the ball? It was a cynical, nasty tackle that was done to take out the man and not the ball.

It was a lazy/frustrated challenge with no malice and it wasn't dangerous, no studs showing and he clipped his trailing leg. It's a yellow every day and it will be rescinded if they appeal it.

Love that Italian anthem, it has phases and everything. What a belter.

The game hasn't even started and Italy are 2 - 0 up

Cracking tune for the national anthem and their kit is leagues ahead.

So is their current style of football. Here's hoping for a demolition job.

Yes, I'm sure that if you had been on the receiving end of that tackle you and your teammates would be begging the ref to only give a yellow or no card at all.

With the skirt twirlers and the druids out...are we the only team left in the tournament still grovelling to career criminals and thugs that desecrate war memorials ?

Hence the "officially" in that sentence - there's not much difference in practice.

This conversation shouldn't be within half a mile of this thread, so if you're interested in talking about this feel free to start another one discussing 11th century perspectives on human rights. I might engage further once the football's finished.

Nah.
Human rights didn't exist then.
