Can't be can it? I thought we had to spend £30M+ to land a striker and that TB's refusal to pay those sorts of sums was condemning us to relegation battles?

I NEVER SAID THAT FIGURE OR SIMILAR.

I NEVER DAID WE WOULD BE RELEGATED.

From his highlights, he looks like he can score with both feet, can score with his head and seems brave and mobile.
Obviously a step up in class for him next season but as a certain striker of ours used to say, they don’t move the goalposts.

Preeeety sure you have mentioned the need to spend more money than we have recently on strikers to get one that would cut the mustard, and we have spent £25M* on one of the current options.

Edit: *maybe only £20M

Very good price if true, but remember any young player we seem to get goes there on loan to learn there trade, so they do well out of that to.

That, and the recruitment of their current squad since 2018 has been done using BHA and Starlizard scouting data.

I can't really understand all the disagreement on this thread. This is VERY good news if it comes off.

Not just because the striker we have been searching for, was under our noses, and owned by Bloom's other club, and therefore is obtainable for a reasonable price. But also because of what it might mean for the future.

It could mean a conveyor belt of tried and tested players, all watched closely, all with match fitness, all with game time, and all deemed PL-ready for our squad, all eager to increase their wages substantially.

So what’s happening here? Buying a player that we will play or send straight back to Belgium?

I think he’ll be just the 4th in 3 years. Tau, Cochrane and the new Polish youngster). Currently we have 22 players or so playing in adult football in multiple leagues. (Champ, SPL, L1, Bundesliga).

I think this relationship with USG is perfect, the right balance of autonomy but mutual interest business. And I've enjoyed watching their rise to the top of their Prem.

Very unhappy about this if true. Was outspoken about Watford doing it and not going to be hypocritical and change my mind now, Loaning players is one thing - selling players to yourself is quite another. I know there are no rules being broken but no-one can convince me it looks good.

Players, agents and minority shareholders dont want this. Players and agents normally earn between 10-20% (FIFA are going to restrict it to 10% soon but right now that is how it is) of the transfer fee. If Brighton wants to move the player for free, the agent (and the player as they are usually listening to their agents) would say no. There are some regulations in the PL how much you can pay agents otherwise so the way to work around it is transfer fees.

And how would minority shareholders in USG feel if Tony Bloom decides to move one valuable asset from one company owned by TB to another company owned by TB? I'm no expert on financial law but that sounds shady to me. You set up two companies, create value in one where you have multiple shareholders and then just move all the value to another company... as I said not sure if that is illegal but it sounds easily as shady as "paying himself".
