RDZ said in his interview that three strikers is enough. Presumably Welbeck, Pedro & Ferguson will compete for the most advanced position whilst also competing with Enciso, Lallana & Buonanotte for the second striker role. Pedro, Welbeck Enciso & Buonanotte also in a pool with Adingra, March & Mitoma for the wing places. Pascal can of course, play anywhere. You can see that someone was going to struggle for game time and Deniz sadly seems the least equipped to play roles other than his main one. A loan home with the chance to prove himself in the Bundesliga will hopefully have made his time with us worthwhile. With a history of Gerd Muller and Miroslav Klose, the Germans seem to like a finisher. Fingers crossed for him. Seems a good lad.
Wouldn't call any of those a striker really

It's not a 4-3-2-1, it's either a 4-2-3-1 or a 4-2-4 depending on how you want to look at it.

The two central forward players alternate dropping deep and play like double false 9s almost.

We also build up in a 2-4-2-2 with the wingers the furthest players forward, hence how Adingra scored against Brentford.
Yep. RDZ pivots - I get that often within games and late on. But he often starts with one striker , with wingers becoming false 9s and expecting strikers to play deep. Hence main point - Undav possibly not fitting - but definitely not likely to get much game time with those tactics.

U obviously don't get humour.. seriously though wonder how much time Lallana will play. even if fit I definitely wouldn't put him ahead of Enciso and Mitoma,
No way. We will go down if we dont have the world’s most expensive cheer leader

I’m surprised how many are surprised by this. I like Undav and it was great to see him come good at the end of the season, he’s a great finisher, but I just can’t see him getting many minutes, even with the extra games.

Even without him, for the two front positions he would play, we’ve still got three players for the front focal point:

Welbeck
Ferguson
Joao Pedro

And three others for the slightly more withdrawn central role which can and will at times obviously be filled by the above too:

Buonanotte
Lallana
Enciso

Plus Adingra can play up front and Gross can play further forward too. We’re reportedly looking for a wide right player which would also reduce his potential game time further.

If it’s true, it would make sense to me. I don’t think we need both of Undav and Buonanotte - I would have loaned out Buonanotte personally - but if it’s Undav then so be it.
Still time for Buonanotte to be loaned out. Wouldn't do the player any harm at this stage in his development imho. He looked a bit 'thrown in' at the back end of last season, and though the experience will have done him a world of good, he doesn't look quite 'EPL Ready' just yet

I wonder why Glenn chose to come to the States with us when he could have done the Palace pre-season at Walsall, Stevenage, Ipswich, Charlton.........?
That's one of them quandries, like where did Ulloa's penalty ball or the 1983 FACup monies go :)

There have been loads of games where his touch has given the ball away cheaply during his sub cameos first two thirds of the season and he was easily the least technical player in our outfield 10. Stop rewriting history. Like I said, If he was good enough outside the box we wouldn’t be loaning him out. Or you know better than RDZ?

I generally agree. He's totally grown on me because he's a good finisher but I often felt the game passed him by. He was more of a cult hero than anything. When De Zerbi said ' we need a squad that can compete in 4 competiitions' - he meant quality as well as a slight increase in numbers. There's no doubt there is better alternatives than him now and finding games to give him charitable minutes on the pitch reduces the development of players with a much higher ceiling. I hope he goes on to do well and he'll score a ton of goals for someone as a specialist slotter.

I totally agree and grew to love him too. He is undoubtedly lethal in the box, but we demand much much more than that from all 11 players on the pitch now. It’s sad but we can’t carry players that RDZ doesn’t think are going to get game time no matter how much that upsets fans who like the fact he went from being awful to scoring some great goals.

I can only assume you d

Can only assume you don’t actually go and watch us play often. Movement may be ok but his passing isn’t the best and first touch has often means he loses possession. It probably wouldn’t matter in many sides but playing the way we do means RDZ wants better quality in deeper areas. If it was bollocks we wouldn’t be loaning him out would we?
Season ticket holder if that counts?

Ok, so you saw that he was pretty poor in every appearance until the last 6 or 7 games? The guy can finish but he’s just a step behind the level that RDZ expects from an outfield player in most other attributes, hence he’s on his way.

You’re the one rewriting history.

You can’t seriously think that a sub coming on will immediately be game ready. His touch was very good when he started games. That’s nonsense, I’ve seen Lallana arguably the best technical player in the squad, come on and struggle to get into the game.

You have absolutely no idea whether it’s personal reasons or because he couldn’t be guaranteed gamble time, as it is extremely competitive for one position. So quoting
THe ‘you know better than RdZ line’ is a bit churlish because neither of us actually know.

RdZ does not strike me as the type of manager, who would lead a player in a certain direction and then go back on his word.

It’s pretty clear from the video of RDZ saying he is going to get transferred as he only needs Pedro, Evan, and Welbeck that he is not considered good enough to get game time. Many times last season RDZ said Undav wasn’t performing at the level required until his late season goal run. The guy showed he can score, mostly as a sub, but I'm sorry if you think his touch and technical ability is as good as any of our other main squad players we are never going to agree on much about football.

Wasn’t when he actually started longer than 10 minutes by any chance was it?

Blimey Zeus, I don’t know if you ever played but you must have been an 8 or 9 every game, even if you were on the bench 😉👍

Probably right because I do think he has excellent touch and hold up play.
I do think he’s the fourth best striker, so as per my post, it seems more likely that he’s asked the manager for a loan so he can play.

As I mentioned I don’t think RdZ will mislead a player, if asked a direct question.

He also had personal problems and the improvement in his form seemed to coincide with those being resolved.

Probably right. He was offered a loan in January but he wanted to stay and fight for his place which he did admirably. He isn't stupid and knows he is not going to play much for us under normal circumstances now Pedro is here.

Indeed, Welbeck’s first touch lets him down a lot of the time last night was the first glimpse of Mitoma getting back to match sharpness.
Undav is to slow if he was half a yard quicker then he would be giving RDZ a headache
