The PL is a different beast although he has proved himself. Werner struggles in the PL yet smashes up the German league. Maybe he will want to prove himself in the PL giving it another go who knows.

It's not just Undav's transfer fee, reports in Germany over the past few days suggest Stuttgart may struggle with his wage demands, pushing the entire package to sign him to around €40m. How convinced are we Undav himself is going to want to return to the Albion to fight for his place next season? I know he’s under contract but it seems the move to the Bundesliga was fairly player-driven last summer so suspect he’d quite like to stick around in that division if possible (even if it means another loan).

I don’t agree with your assessment at all.
His weight of pass and hold-up play was actually very good and continued to improve with the more games he got (playing regularly improves you, who knew?).

I suspect the whole “he’s coming back”, is more to test the level of interest and given his other issues, in terms of being in this country he’ll be sold.

Good player though, scores goals regularly.

I think he’d convert a lot more chances than Welbz but obviously, his all round game is not nearly as good. Welbz looks very comfortable on the wing or in midfield when he drops deep and still has top level pace.

That's not how option to buy clauses work.

The clause is a set amount that if they pay we have no choice but to accept it.

It has been reported that the fee is variable dependent on performance.
There have been instances where a club has cancelled the buy option and compensated the club that wanted to use the buy option, there would have to be a clause in the contract to allow this, and the fee for it probably rises, as his buyout price rises, dependent on his performances.

Also, Brighton could offer Undav an improved contract, something better than Stuttgart are willing to go to, and he then chooses to come back here. It could cost BHAFC to keep him, but it isn't a case of nothing they can do if Stuttgart want to buy him.

A certain Erling Haaland has been spoken about a lot in sports media this week for similar reasons. Sometimes with a forward the all round game is insignificant and its as simple as 'can he finish?'

Because we are so full of goals we don’t need a goal poacher? So many opportunities missed this season by trying to walk the ball into the net or shooting straight at the keeper or past the post or over the bar. I suggest we’d be in with a good shout for another go in Europe if he’d been here this season
