I don't think any STHs that want to go to away games in Europe (should we get there) need to worry too much, unless we get drawn against a team with a tiny ground. There were still tickets popping up for Ajax when we were over there, and Marseille tickets went to MyA+, can't remember with Athens. I think supply will satisfy demand for all STHs in the majority of cases.

Having said that, it was one of the factors that gave me the push to book Leicester away tbh.

They were returns. They were like gold dust. You may have missed the lengths @Bozza went to to secure one for an aging and baffled old buffer who had a train ticket and hotel but no way into the Ajax castle....

Just a hint, but I done Athens & Rome as Easyjet 5 day holidays. They turned out cheaper and easier to book than the rush for flights & trains. At least that's what the wife told me.

I did a 3 night easyJet holiday in Rome with choice of seat and luggage in hold for less than just basic flight only with no extras. Definitely the way to do it and great opportunity for sightseeing.

True. I remember there was a lot of pant-pissing on here. Club just gave out common sense advice. A surprise surprise nothing happened.

What were the “dire warnings”? The club gave some common sense advise but nothing more.

OK badly phrased by me but when the club start saying don't go to this part of town or that area or attempt to travel on your own to the ground in any way shape or form people will inevitably build up a picture which in some cases will put them off going. As it was i went to the old town, strolled around, went to a restaurant for a meal without any issues. I was also so hacked off with the horrible "cattle truck" much elongated bus journey that i resolved not to do one again which i didn't until after the roma match when there was little choice.

I do think this points harvesting thing is well overplayed. I’m sure many do it but not massive numbers, as it’s been well explained in previous posts it’s not really necessary. Last season I had reasonable access to tickets even tho not tier 1, I just couldn’t go to the group games cos a) couldn’t get time off work at short notice b) dumb luck as my son had an exam on match day and I didn’t want to experience it all without him and c) I was already away in Hong Kong. Again next season should we make it, it will be contingent events in people’s lives that will prevent attendance, not so much access to tickets

The only away game I had trouble getting a ticket for, last season, was Luton away where I lost out in the mad T2 9am bundle for the last ones. Turned out to be a blessing in disguise...

Anyone that kept going away in the last few months of the RDZ era should get extra points - or a medal - as we were absolute pony for the vast majority.

Agree re the time. I did 3 of the 4 away European games and it was travelling one day, queuing for ticket and buses on the day of the game and travelling back on the third day. We've already decided that, if we are fortunate to qualify, next season we'll take an extra day (in our group most are able to do so). Question is, do we take the extra day after the match or before?

I added a couple extra days pre-match in Rome and Athens (travelling solo) as I’d not been to either an wanted to look around a bit - would certainly do the same again (depending on where it was). Need to get back in time for the Sunday PL game……

I'm midlands based now (20 years) and when we were league 1 & championship I used to go to 8-10 aways every season, often POTG.

Sadly yet to see us play away in the PL. I don't have a passport anymore either so no desire to go and watch us play live in Europe.

But I do watch every game on the telebox and am loving the success we are now achieving.

Stockport, Rochdale, Bury, etc away just fond memories for me of the Albion journey to the stars.

Yes, potentially.

For the last two seasons we had done 34/38 in both seasons.

This year we were consciously going to reduce the number, just to save some money, but with us being quite competitive, we are reevaluating our decision.

Have already missed Everton and Arsenal for various reasons, and am abroad so will miss Utd and Ipswich.

But, am now rethinking whether we do Villa (very unlikely, sick of losing there), City, quite enjoy it, but was going to leave it, and Palace…..

Will see how we feel when the on sale date comes out

Does that suggest the real impact of the mad loyalty point anxiety shown by some, plus European football, is that tier 1 and 2 have gone to more games and amassed 10 more points?

As I said earlier, without school age kids/ wanted to at least pretend I cared re not taking them out for too long, I would have elongated my stay in all cities. But one night in Marseille, 2 in Amsterdam, 1 in Athens and 3 in rome/Florence (travelling late evening/overnight or morning of the game) to keep it to 2 days off school each time, was certainly an expensive way of doing it

I have always been happy with easyjet (athens from lgw was 90% bha fans). But I used vueling to florence/rome. That is and will forever be a very last resort. Mind you not tried wizzair yet and those who flew with them to Athens may not do so again unless desperate either

I've held firm. No West Ham Away. Only tickets in the upper deck left when I could get both my boys tickets (older one has been a bad fan and hasn't the points for first wave any more)

Booked a hotel for Villa away for us all. I know we loose there regularly but neither boy has been to the stadium and want to tick it off the list

Will demand for away tickets increase at some point just in case, well - you know, there might be a few extra away games next season?

I know this will trigger a "now you've done it Bozza", and I'll be blamed as we slide down the table, get relegated, and the most exotic away game we have next season is Middlesbrough.

However, in my defence...

1. What I write on here has absolutely no influence on the results of Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club.

2. This hadn't crossed my mind before someone (I can't remember who now) at the game on Saturday mentioned they might start upping their away attendance to keep their loyalty points tally up "just in case".
