Why didn't you blood him last season, then? Will he even get regular starts this season?

If he is good enough he is old enough.

That is the problem with all you big shot Premier League Clubs, with your limitless money and huge squads. You hog all the talent and would rather have a player wasting away on the bench than joining a rival.

It is anti competitive and the reason the Premiership is such a boring League to watch! :D

That’s an easy one to answer although as a football fan you should already know. Brighton thought he would benefit from a season in the championship, just as we did for Matt Clarke. He is being developed by these loans to bring him to the point where he is ready to be considered for our first team. You have come on to a Brighton message board making ignorant digs at our club and it’s academy/player development structure. Every time you claim Ben was nothing before Leeds and Bielsa you are also being massively disrespectful to the player himself. Grow up.

Fair enough, I stand corrected. It isn't a League that I have taken much interest in for many many years, I follow the Division my club plays in, obviously.

Which this upcoming season will be the Premier League. When I read this website I wonder whether we are better off out of it, mind. It clearly changes clubs for the worse, look at you guys on here.

If the supporters Brighton and Hove Albion, whom I always thought were a genuine, unspoilt, decent bunch can be so insufferably arrogant, what is it going to be like when we come up against the likes of Liverpool, Scum and Chelsea? Well I know the answer to that already of course.

You are going to say you were only kidding. But many a true word spoken in jest...

Stick around, you’ll find we are all pretty grounded. I WAS joshing! In fact there are plenty on here who think most of us still have a small team mentality. This Leeds/ Ben White thing makes us think that YOU are the Billy Big Bollocks Club. You know just like Utd, City, Chelsea and Arsenal :lolol:

It may not come across like that to a newbie like you but we are taking the piss and somewhat gobsmacked that so many Leeds fans can’t get their heads around the fact than Ben White MAY see Albion as a better choice than Leeds as things stand.

Have you seen Starry posts? He was on here when we were both in League One and is a welcome Leeds fan, although he disappeared for quite a few years. I’d be interested in his take on what you say about us being arrogant now. Personally I don’t see it, I’m just glad we have lasted three years. The first year was great, the end of last season just awful and for me anyway I have loved this season. I hope we kick on next season but totally accept that we might not. As long as the football is enjoyable I want to stay, if not I’ll be happy to drop a division.

We loan out more players than any other team but Chelsea.

As part of the club's long term strategy we have invested heavily in a top rated academy and filled it with players (bought and developed) of exceptional talent in the hope that they turn into top class PL talent. In order to test them constantly they must play competitive games at the right level. Hence loaning them to league two, one and championship clubs depending on their development needs.

We cannot afford to splash twenty plus million on developed talent, so we make our own. Thank you for your contribution but I'm pretty sure you won't be involved in the development of future talent for us or any other club who have watched your unprofessional behaviour.

Ben White is the player he is because of himself. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink. White has adapted to and excelled at every level he's stepped up to. I'm sure he'll look back fondly at his season with Leeds, he's played every game in a title winning team in a very competitive league, in front of 30,000+ fans for a manager with a fantastic reputation. Why on earth wouldn't he have good memories of that?

But, Bielsa hasn't 'made' him anymore than we have, Southampton have, Newport have or Peterborough have. His ability, his hard work and his mentality are what have earned him each of those opportunities and each of those opportunities have led to the next.

If he didn't have the right attitude and ability we wouldn't have picked him up when Southampton released him, he wouldn't have shone in the U-18's and U-23's, he wouldn't have earned his player of the year winning season at Newport which lead to his time at Peterborough. All of which left him in a position to go to Leeds and excel.

Brighton have managed his progress well and must be absolutely ecstatic how well he stepped up at Leeds. I have no doubt however that he'd be getting similar rave reviews if his and Clarke's loan deals had been reversed and he had gone to Derby instead because that's exactly what he's done every step of his career so far with us. It's entirely plausible that Bielsa has made White an even better player than he would have been but that's all he's done,at most.

It's been a tremendously successful loan and all three parties should be delighted how it's gone. Leeds because he has played an important part in getting them back to the premier league, White because it's shown he's a player ready for the highest level and us because we've got yet another quality centre back on our hands. It cost us 20million to get the best CB in the championship last summer. We've got this season's one on our books already. To go along with the best two centre halves of 2015-17.

I don't disagree with much of that, although saying he would have done equally well at Derby is counter factual.

What we do know is that he has developed to his full potential under Bielsa, and of course that was always the intention. It was interesting that Potter said that he trusted Bielsa to play him out of position, it indicates both that he was being closely monitored whilst under loan, but also the high regard in which your manager hold ours.

Bielsa makes average players good and good players great through world class coaching. It is what he has done for clubs and two national sides throughout a long career. and I don't really get why this should be even under discussion.

But then this is a fans forum for talking bo11ocks I suppose...

Bielsa is a magician, you've said it yourself, so he can work wonders with your Academy players. After all, in your own words, he changed Ben's life for ever. [emoji38]ol:[emoji38]ol:

Btw we have two players in our own 25 man squad who play nearly every game, who are not only from our own youth but were born within 12 miles of our stadium. Lewis Dunk (England cap) and Solly March (England U21) so we don't pay mega bucks for players all over the planet.
If I recall rightly, our record transfer fee is 17million (no doubt someone will correct me on that)

Brighton fans, arrogant? Ha ha ha ha That's a good one.
:D
Both Maupay and Webster cost slightly more than Jahanbakhsh - each 'around £20 million'. I don't think the club really wanted to burden either of them with the tag of 'record signing' though.

Cheers. It's still hardly mega bucks.

After reading this thread I am convinced that Sigmund Freud isn't dead but posing as a Leeds fan on the Internet."Comme il faut" and the like is wasted on a football message board where everyone knows the argument will be won or lost by pointing to our inside toilets.

That, or London Irish has changed allegiance and swallowed a francais thesaurus.

Bonnet de douche all. Keep it up.

Somewhere in there you make a very valid point.

Chelsea I believe started it all off in the early days of their mega wealth when they went out and hoovered up all the young talent, failing to develop any in to first team players. There was a period when Terry was the only one to come through their system for a huge number of years, 10 comes to mind. It didn't stop them though and while it was the chosen prick in charge there was no way was anything going to change, as he doesn't develop players. That's not right and not the way we're doing it.

With the huge transfer fees especially for home grown talent the only way clubs like Brighton can have a long term future is to develop their own. It takes time and only now are we seeing any hope of producing players in any quantity and quality.

Even Brighton can't take the chance in throwing an unknown in to the first team without blooding them in a competitive environment. The PL2 just doesn't offer that competitive edge required.

You don't have to at the top table to believe in player development, you have to have a reasoned ideal that will take huge investment and time, time being the reason many don't do it right. Brighton have taken this route and will begin to see the benefits. For other club's supporters to not understand this process is to not see the investment that has taken place. For that, the ignorance is palpable.

Cat 1 academies are the gold standard, and Leeds have only now just been given it. This allows clubs to offer better facilities, coaching, education and development than academies lower down the spectrum. There is a structured way in which a higher graded academy can "poach" from a lower one.

Fortunately Brighton not only were shrewd in the way they invested in the facilities they employed the very top of the personnel that designed the system for the FA. Having the foresight to do this isn't arrogant or being a "hot shot" but true business acumen and should be held up as standard others should aspire to.

That does sound quite arrogant though :lolol:

Wow. Go and take a look at WACCOE before posting **** like that. You haven't even played a PL game yet and the levels of arrogance on there are unbelievable (and anyone from here trying to - even gently - point that out is instantly banned)

You missed the Boris Johnson style use of Latin too.

I’m not going to waste time with more than one post on this thread but KW is clearly a bit of a tool who doesn’t understand much about our club or Ben White’s career.

Well I for one welcome the return of our footballing masters to the Premiership, this league has been seriously lacking humour for the past three seasons, after all there's only so much that Palace can do! The Leeds fans have already started the clowning around, just imagine the fun when the football starts.

No Icy it's saying anyone can do it, if the management/owners have a long term view. Many don't and demand instant success as do the supporters, Leeds being in Europe next season. With the money available all the clubs could be running top academies but they don't. Five years only, and we're more than holding our own in the top academy leagues, why is that? It's due to understanding what is needed and planning long term strategies.

Many on here questioned the amount of money being put in to the youth and now we have a system to be proud of, if that's arrogant so be it.

True to form after bumping into a Leeds fan this morning, he said Ben White will want to play for a big club like them rather than return to Brighton. It was all gentle banter but no mistaking Leeds feel they’ve a Devine right to be in PL. I passively aggressively said it was good to see Leeds back...because an entire generation won't have any recollection of top flight football. Ouch!
