Well, yes. But I have to disagree with the Rt.hon Lady about them being entitled. I don't think it's unreasonable for them to think that it was about time they won something. It's incredible that it has been so long.

I don't agree about Newcastle. They seem to be constantly resigned to their fate. I'm not sure they quite believe today has happened.

Haha yes, my Geordie mate is so pessimistic it's unbelievable. Always thinks they will lose, especially against us. I am pleased for him and the Newcastle fans in general as they are mostly great.

I think they've always just annoyed me a bit with all their whinging about how tough they had it because Mike Ashley and they got relegated to the Championship a couple of times.

I mean, if the worst thing that's ever happened to your club is spending a few years in the second tier, then you're not doing too badly, are you? Same with United fans moaning about the Glazers because they're mid table in the Premier League. If Amorim by some miracle got them top three next season, they'd drop their Glazers songs in a heartbeat. Arsenal fans whining about their owners previously when they were fourth or fifth in the PL.

A moderator of NSC (who we both know, I suspect) stated a few weeks ago that 10th in the EPL is the 'new normal'.
With success comes expectations.

Manchester United are indeed a different breed.

I remember a conversation with a United fan who lived in Woodingdean. 'Why are you not an Albion fan ?' 'Because they are shit'

I then told him he must be a glory hunter, or 'third class fan' as I call them for some reason. Geordies are far from glory hunters. For obvious reasons. I don't think there is a team that has managed to punch so far below its weight.

With Newcastle it's slightly different. It's not that they expect success, its more that they believe somehow that they feel the pain of lack of success more deeply than the rest of us.

The radio this morning was absolutely dripping in it, that they love their team in a way other supporters just wouldn't understand, that winning something, anything, means more to them than it would to a 'regular' fan.

They are going to be insufferable now that they've finally got their trophy.

You’re joking, right? Surely even the most six-fingered Ipswich fan could see that going to a club with seven PL seasons and a European campaign in its recent experience was a step up from one that was recently in League 1. That’s even more deluded than Leeds if they really did think that.

Nope, there was a big group on their forum who were convinced he stayed because he had more chance of winning something at Ipswich than here. Maybe they meant next year's EFL Championship?

To be fair, another group of wiser heads tried to point out they would need several premier League transfer windows to get anywhere near our present squad, but got nowhere with the fantasists.
