They will have an agreed connection with UKPN, it just wont be in place yet as network reinforcement will be undertaken. There has been a significant role out in EV charging, including at existing garages and this should have (and needs to be) improved to compare with elsewhere.
..im sure there were plenty saying I wont buy a car in the 1950s...i might run out of fuel...and people did, they ran out of fuel and cars broke down all the time, then more people bought cars and the range improved as did the infrastructure, very quickly.
The advantage now is the locations for the infrastructure is in place, the range and performance of EVs is changing all the time and by 2030 there wont be EVs with less than 300 miles of range that can charge quickly, with infrastructure in place to meet needs.
I have an EV - i largely charge at work, or occasionally at home. I can get to the Amex and back, from Hythe on a single charge with plenty to spare. The only time i need to charge away from home is if im going more than 250 miles in a day. Which isnt really very often....ive done 11,000 miles this year and have paid to charge a handful of times, including going to norwich and back in a day. It really isnt that stressful.

Congratulations, you can afford an EV. Not everyone can charge at work. I'm retired and can neither afford an EV nor have a charger at home. Nor would I ever buy a 2nd hand EV. So I guess I'm petrol till I die.

Maybe when the largest polluting countries with far more output than the UK do something, then the UK can too.

Why should we have to pay huge prices for 2nd electric cars compared to petrol ones and expensive home heating pumps instead of gas boilers.

Also , need millions more working electric vehicle chargers first.

Maybe Mr Sunak, rather than seeking to please the wealthiest people in our society by lining their pockets constantly, could turn his attention to supporting people who can’t afford the necessary changes so that they become affordable.

Maybe embracing the commitments we have already made would be financially and economically beneficial in the long run, actually competing in the EV market rather than getting left way, way behind. How about creating jobs - and wealth that would circulate through the economy, by insulating older houses and by increasing the insulation burden on new-build houses rather than pandering to the wealthy building companies who also - surprise, surprise - happen to be major donors to the Tory Party.

But no, he is more happy to carry on destroying the planet at a considerable rate of knots, not worried about what he will be leaving for his kids, or for my grandchildren. The newest grandchild, Joseph, was born three weeks ago. What Is likely to be happening to our planet by the time he is 30. Will there still be air to breathe.

Mr Sunak is a disgrace, even creating today nonsensical policies that no one has ever put forward in reality for him and his party to ban. It is blatant “naked politics”, as Robert Peston put it. Money and the future of his party matter more than the planet and the future of our children.

Some people might describe this as “woke”. I like to think of it more as responsible.

People can't have it both ways, but we do like too.

We are mostly all worried about the climate but at the same time quite happy to buy cheap imports from China and other countries whilst ignoring what they are doing to the planet to meet those needs.

We understand cars are a problem but are utterly addicted to them.

This is what Governments are for. Making difficult decisions that piss off the electorate in the short term, but make sense in the longer term.

However this Government isn't interested in the long term, it just wants to shore up it's core vote and hope it gets over the line at the next election.
