Barrel of Fun
Abort, retry, fail
Very pleased for him. Would like to see him back at Brighton, some day, in some form of coaching capacity.
Dick pushed my patients as a loyal Albion fan the day he stab Dean in the back if it wasn't for our real saviour TB i probably would have never felt the same about the Albion again.
Dick showed faith in Dean by elevating him to assistant coach and then giving him the job. Also ignoring calls from many Albion fans to sack him after a very difficult start.
Real Saviour? Give it a rest.
Harsh! I think Dean Wilkins earned his positions within the club rather than Dick elevating him.
That's a brilliant appointment for Southampton. Even if you don't fancy him as a manager, someone of Wilkins' class in league one as a coach/assistant is rare and valuable. Compare him to the two clowns we've got for example....
Good luck to him!
Without getting into the tiresome debate again I think we all acknowledge he was a very, very good coach.
Oh, I do agree. I did not phrase it as well as I should have done. We were a team on the slide and many Chairmen/boards would have opted for an old head as opposed to an untried rookie. You can see that sort of appointment happening at a relatively stable club, but not one without permission for a ground and in need of a massive squad rebuild.

Hiney's done the deed.
This is good news as it could lead to Hawkins and Livermore leaving on season long loans to Southampton.
Sorry BigGully but what are you on about? Someone asked LB to merge two threads and you start having a dig?
Or shall I just keep out of it?
