it does begger belief that players are leaving on loan to BETTER teams...I dont get that, especially as we need layers to stay up, disappointed with this news.

Right here, right now
I'm not trying to infer anything here but, if there a tendency emerging from Gus to favour overseas players?

McNulty losing out to Painter
Whing losing out to Calderon
Cox losing out to Carole
Forster losing out to LuaLua ? mabe not so clear-cut this one

These are the most recent ones, are there others earlier in Gus's reign I've overlooked
This should read Forster losing out to Holroyd, and Cox losing out to Lua Lua.

Painter and Calderon are clearly better than McNulty and Whing, Holroyd has potential and will play whilst Forster is sulking.

Cox is too inconsistant to warrant a regular place in the team.

dont blame him if he is only bench warming. yeah they earn a good wage but they have passion and want to play football at the end of the day so if another team offers them that opportunity then why not go for it. i think a few of the others wont be far behind him.

He was quality against Southampton at St. Mary's, and since then he has started just 3 league games because of Poyet's strange lop-sided midfield. He always looks lively when he comes on, but only gets 20 mins if lucky. When Lualua goes back we will have the choice of playing a centre mid on the left or (god forbid) Seb Carole. Two of my Villa fan mates saw him come on at Villa Park and said he looked quality and couldn't understand why he didnt start.

How many times have we heard opposition fans say that he looks quality? And often he does! The big problem with Cox is that whenever he gets a shot at becoming a regular he often goes into invisible mode for a number of games and gets dropped again. He comes back, looks good for a couple of games then disappears again, etc., etc.

Agree 100%. Whether cox is/isn't worth a starting place at the moment isn't really the debate, how he's behind carole in the pecking order though is beyond me. Given that we haven't signed any width on the left during the window I'm suprised Cox hasn't been given a go out there under poyet.

Can't we just send Carole to Millwall instead? (Yeah, I know he is on a weekly contract)

Russ mentioned to me on Wednesday that Tiny was off to Millwall on a loan , surprising me that Carole is still around on that basis especially now LuaLua is here.

If this is true, then what is Poyet doing? Why is he choosing Carole infront of Coxy, and then shipping him out on loan to Millwall? Tunnicliffe now cox what is going on?!

Slowly but surely Gus is bringing in HIS players!

Marcos Painter is a Brummie - went to school with one of my lads

Not sorry to see Cox go as I think his attitude isn't always the best - argumentative, petulant and a piss head.......not sure Carole is a good idea but LuaLua? Yeah. Much better bet than Cox

he has been wank since the first six months of making his debut

too inconsistent out wide - constantly cutting back and failing to deliver a cross. too lightweight down the middle - worked against wycombe, but play him week in, week out there against better sides and we would be overrun through the centre of the park

having said that, id rather have him than carole

Not sure that he is a piss head arrogant little f...er perhaps but wouldnt class him as a piss head.

id say CONSTANTLY given it large on the broadway constitutes his position as a pisshead

Not an arrogant big head perhaps. He doesnt need to be pissed to do that. It was rumoured that his recent 'illness' was due to a girl slamming a chair down and the leg of the chair hitting him on his foot.

I for one thought we played some great stuff towards the end of Wilkins' second season. Point is, we ground out results when we maybe didn't deserve them. I'd rather that than the 'total football' we have been blessed with this season.
