Appreciate again all the comments so far. I'm reticent to go into too many family details on the internet. Apologies for the 'rents for parents thing, just a juvenile slang I've got into recently.

He's doing ok at the cadets following orders so me mentioning autism might be a complete red herring.

Cocaine is a thought as it does appear rife nowadays sadly and working (only 4 hours a week) gives him his own money. Might be plain old alcohol as he has been found to sneak some in.

Have made some suggestions to them with some references to the agencies mentioned and received by DM. Difficult though as they have their own ideas and no one likes interference.
Or, he could be a bit of a ****?

The explosive child by dr Ross Greene is a good read on this subject.

In special education it is often said that behaviour is communication, often the best communication that can be mustered. Working out what you're being told is sometimes easy and sometimes difficult but it holds the key to changong unwanted behaviour.

Haha yes of course both the parents and the lad, there's always that!

But knowing them all I don't think this is the case. He's a good lad, calm with others. The bullying at cadets was a short lived thing (and the lad he was bullying has since been promoted above him so that should show him). It's this sudden disproportionate verbal aggression/violence towards mum and dad that's the worry.

I’ve been told that weed is often much stronger than the varieties smoked in the 60’s and 70’s.
Top Tip for ex caners wanting a little smoke when visiting the Dam.
Get well away from main tourist area and find a tiny weed shop run by a grey haired Dutch hippy. He will have the more natural weak stuff that you prefer or should at least start with because you're way out of practice.

It may be, TBF, but no two autistic people are the same. Each has their own triggers/reactions - for some it's sounds, for others it's textures, etc.

The main thing is talking, either as a family or with the help of a third party.

Fingers crossed for them,
