So for a 21 year old to turn this down was ridiculous and I'm sure she was overtaken with greed. She could have used the money to put herself through University, put a nice deposit down on a place of her own. Instead, it appears the greed got the better of her as she chased a higher amount.

Having said that, if her Father had just left her half a million in his will, then the gamble was the right choice.
So like you say, we don't know her situation. 60k may not change her life enough for her to deal.

They've obviously had similar situations before, can't remember what the offer is, around 90/100k.

I would expect it to be a lot less than that... they often offer less than half of the average... so I would guess at around £50,000 or perhaps even less.

And how many people would hand £50,000 back on the toss of a coin?

Wow, unbelievably tight.

It's irritating, because the banker isn't an independent banker that's playing each game in isolation, so you get stupidly low offers.

What do you think the offer will be if you have 1p and £250,000 left ?

and what would it have to be for you to take it ??

It depends on the player. Could be a little as £ 20000, could be as much as
£ 110000. The most ridiculous decision I saw when a bloke with £ 50000 and
£ 250000 left turned down £ 160000 and ended up with £ 50000.

"It's only money. It's been a great experience. I've come here and met so many wonderful people".

That's the usual shite the contestants come out with if they walk away with F all.

I think people are ignoring the desire of the production team to keep the player in the game. Ideally they want to pitch an offer so it's just under the amount the contestant would accept. That way the contestant agonises over a decison before continuing with the gamble.

She had a two in three chance of getting more than £60k

I would have taken the £60k, but perhaps she was either greedy or didn't see it as being a life changing sum of money. Silly, but we all make mistakes.

You just HAVE to go into that programme with a "get out" figure in your head.

The moment that's offered, you go.

It drives me mad when people win £20k and 'miss out on £250k and are really gutted. YOU WON £20k for feck sake.

It's not though, is it? You can guarantee yourself £60,000 with no further risk involved, it's there, you can take it and walk away with the money. Or you can gamble on a 2/3 chance of getting a better offer in the next round. Choosing not to realise a guaranteed £60,000 gain on the chance that you *might* subsequently get a better offer is moronic.

I agree. You can argue the maths till the cows come home but there comes a time when the amount of money GUARANTEED (60K, in this case) makes it not worth taking any further gambles. 60K is definitely that tipping point for me, maybe even earlier iin the process.

I would have dealt at £60k with those 3 boxes left as the outcome is theoretical , if I was a gambler or thought I was a lucky bastard then it wouldn't have been tempting enough.
