I'm deaf in one ear, yet bizzarely work in subtitling for the deaf and hard of hearing. All the signers here are deaf and use BSL (obviously), so I really should get around to learning it. Also a good idea if the other ear gives up too. If anyone can recommend a good place to learn it in London or maybe an online course as I work very variable hours, that would be great.
can i ask if you are deaf yourself? or are you just learning sign?
My son is Profoundly deaf and a BSL signer. I learnt sign to chat to him. Lucky that, as I am now losing my hearing. We are and have been season ticket holders for years. We are always glad to meet fellow signers particularly those of an Albion persuasion. We always have fun with the Albion and fellow supporters. One great occasion was at Norwich a few years back when we had a couple of rows of supporters singing and signing albion songs. So all who learn to sign welcome and do stop us for a chat. We are in the East Stand row H near the half way line, just look for the signers!

Do you sign the chants? That would be QUALITY. I reckon we could all manage an AL-BI-ON, Al-BI-ON.
I was going to learn at Greenwich Community College. Relatively cheap compared to most courses. But my lecturer died and there was no-one to replace him! Moved out of London and enrolled at Sussex.
Which borough are you in?
Another deafo here totally in one ear
Was told not to participate in boxing and diving as a kid to avoid risking hearing loss in the other ear
I am extremely fortunate to hear in one ear but totally oblivious to anyone talking to me on my right hand side
Many a time have people assumed me to be an unsociable bastard after not responding to them
However can also use this minor disability to my advantage having selective hearing
Agree with all of this (apart from it's the left for me). Was also advised to avoid mountain climbing due to my balance. Bang went my dream of being a champion mountain climber.
