i dont know what the issues are but the team clearly doesnt click as well as it did before. blaming transfers cant be it when we still have 70-odd possession and cant score, with the same forwards and tactics. maybe that's the problem, too predictable and easy for the opposition to counter.

I think the difference is that the real gamechangers - the players that can beat people - are either injured or not yet fully fit. With them, we don’t end up knocking the ball about endlessly looking for a gap. They create the gaps.

Without them, it makes no sense to leave the defence so exposed - but we do it anyway. Repeatedly.

We’re lucky to have so many of those exciting attacking players - and unlucky they’ve all been out at once.

Definitely is. Bloom said a couple of times when we signed fati that he thought he was 'expensive' ....this is not the type of thing that bloom ever says or ever has said before.

I felt at the time, bloom knew it was gonna fail.

I agree that we needed more reinforcements in January (and more than we got in the summer as well), but he also has to be more flexible with his tactics. It's not TB's fault we're playing the way we are at the moment, RDZ is the only one with the power to change it. The outcomes we are getting from this squad, despite the injuries, are poor, considering we still have a lot of really talented players at our disposal.

The club aren't going to throw tens of millions into players that specifically fit his system if he isn't committed long term and if the system is a bit crap, as it is at the moment.

Whether he is or isn’t an RDZ signing is largely irrelevant. Your other point is spot on and one I made on Fati’s thread. It’s the latest injury that’s an issue as he’s playing like he doesn’t want to get hurt again. He was brilliant in Amsterdam though.

Bloom said: “It is obviously expensive, not the sort of thing we would normally do.

“But it’s a loan, it’s somebody who is very special and who could do some amazing things for this football club this season.”

It depends what both you and he expected them to be replaced by I suppose. And under what system and set of expectations brought the coveted world class players that were sold, to Brighton in the first place.

There was another interview he did for the club website where it was worded differently.

But even if you just take this interview on it's own. Tony bloom does not do 'expensive' he does value signings. I'm convinced this was de zerbis signing.

Bloom signed him for Roberto no doubt. De Zerbi can't get a tune from him since his injury as even with that he only looked good in Europe.

I think the insinuation that it was De Zerbi led were his glowing comments about Fati at the time, reflections on the first time he'd seen him and what a fan he was, where he envisaged him fitting in and taking us to the next level etc. Same with Dahoud really. As opposed to other purchases by Brighton who he claims to not know or have seen.

It's not so much that it's solely down to De Zerbi, I'm sure Bloom was on board. More that he's a cheeky bastard talking about being backed. When the backing he's had and the squad he inherited,all down to the clubs system contributed massively to where he's currently at.
