Thats the advantage of taking over one of the best six squads in the league compared to taking over one of the worst three: it goes faster to reach success.
Not exactly rocket science.
The advantage of which your god failed to do at Chelsea

Ridiculous argument. So it's best squad rather than manager. If it goes south in the first 5 games (Which I don't think it will) I will encourage my mother in law to replace FH.

You will never understand the atmosphere of both Marseille games, what it was like to see Pascal put someone in his arse and fire us 2-0 up at Man U, playing Chelsea off the pitch giving Potter PTSD or the excitement of travelling to those European games. I'll never understand how he turned up so quick at the away end of Forest. For those memories, RDZ will always have credit.

The last few months were dog shit and RDZ was a prick. It was time for him to go.

Your diagnosis of "British leadership" is the biggest load of shit I've ever read on here. And I've read a lot.of shit on here.
Top post that. Totally agree.

Yeah, but he’s not wrong is he? It’s not like you’ve been defamed because you’ve made it clear several times in the past you drink a lot of alcohol and smoke a lot of weed, often when posting on here, and often in the early hours. The truth is an absolute defence against defamation.

You aren’t being some bastion of free speech and firebrand rebel that you see in your mind’s eye, you’re just being a bit of a troll.

An example of this is randomly - and apropos of nothing - bringing up your tangent about English managers (?) out of absolutely nowhere, then an attempt to get a reaction by saying “maybe we can go back and discuss it once some English manager wins a title somewhere. If any of us are alive then.”.

Now, when you typed this, I’m sure it made sense in your mind because of your internal monologue which we weren’t privy to, and very possibly because of your altered state of mind due use of substance(s).

To a sober mind, you are just being caustic and disingenuous in that very specific way you do, around this time of night, when you come out with this stuff.
I'm sober as a... tortured person.

People can feel free to think I'm trolling about Roberto De Zerbi because I have the complete opposite viewpoint of him and what he's "achieved".

Just like people laughed at me eight months ago when I said there was no chance in hell Tony would let Roberto manage Brighton for another season.

As I see, its not trolling. I just know/understand more football related things than other people. The vast majority of posts I do here is to explain how things work. Its pretty difficult. "No, we're not getting relegated due to no £20m signing coming in". "Yes, we're likely to improve next year despite a lack of signings because all the players are 12 years old". Year out year in. Currently trying to explain to people that 37 players are too many in a PL squad.

What is clearly impossible to explain to people is that the results and football was dire for the vast majority of last season, that "not being motivated" for about 6 months is utterly unacceptable and clear-as-a-day evidence of shit management and that constantly belittling and blaming the club and the owner isn't "ambitious" but "a cowardly way of avoiding taking any responsibility". People not understanding this are the disengenuous ones.

But like I said, a certain kind of people are really into this "rowdy" kind of "critical-against-everyone-but-themselves" kind of mega-egos, and for obvious reasons they will never understand why such a person is completely unbearable to be around (hence the sacking).

FWIW, I loved the first 18 months of RDZ. We saw some amazing football; going to Amsterdam, taking over the city and spanking Ajax before topping the group was beyond a dream.

But the last three or four months absolutely destroyed his legacy for me. All of us mugs paying through the nose, giving up days of our lives travelling around the country to watch a totally demoralised side get rolled over under the instruction of a manager who obviously wanted out but wouldn't hand in his resignation because he knew we'd force another club to pay through the nose to appoint him subsequently. Injuries crippled us, but he didn't even try to adapt to the situation, just stubbornly stuck to the same system that didn't work with the players we had. One season of success- the foundations of which were put in place by Bloom, Barber & Potter- and he thought he could hold the club hostage, that we would rip up our structure and our philosophy for him. Cheap tricks like getting his agents to plant shite about Bayern, Barca, Liverpool, Chelsea, City fighting each other for him to be their manager because he is so brilliant. Then he turns up at Marseille, signing has-beens and alleged sex offenders, slagging off the club that gave him his break.

f*** RDZ, honestly.

I think that Solo has a point to make in amongst the angst and passion.... which is that De Zerbi is treated with far more reverence than his time with us deserves, and Potter is treated far far worse by our fans than he deserves.

Which is about righjt as far as I'm concerned. It doesnt mean that RDZ wasn't the most fun we've had during the times he was at his best, or that GP didn't piss us off when he left. Each had their skills and their foibles, but overall they are are the two most successful managers for us during our entire history (so far) and I prefer to celebrate them both.

Says it all.

Is there a more conceited, egotistical and narcissistic poster in the entire history of NSC?

When you were allowed to come back from your previous Swansman ban, I was impressed with how restrained and changed you were.

Unfortunately leopards don't change their spots and in the words of the great poet Jack Nicholson:

Ps: sorry mods, I know I shouldn't play the man, I never do apart from this.

try 5-6 months ! And don’t forget he took us from 9th (Potter) to 6th to 11th , so he left us lower then the PL then he took over from (although don’t forget Potter fantastic start)

IMO you can argue he got lucky or just very focussed for 29 games , but couldn’t continue in

Just reflecting on being lucky for 29 games……

Apparently, preparation and playing style has little to do with football (or is that the ‘very focused’?)

Imagine not only thinking you know/understand football better than everyone else. But actually saying it out loud. To a group of people, many of who have experienced football in ways you never have.

Goodness me.
"Other people". Not "everyone else". But you may include yourself among "other people", very much so.

For the five years I've been here, I've mostly noted you as "the guy who has a serious, almost obsessive problem with Paul Barber", with your main gripe being that he says the club is doing well and being run well, which is the complete opposite of your stance, because in your world spending money on the academy was shit, building a young team was shit, sacking Hughton & De Zerbi was shit, appointing Potter was shit, playing out from the back was shit, replacing Shane Duffy was shit - well, pretty much every decision ever made by the club is shit.

Anyone opposing it? "Is Bozza a puppet for Paul Barber?", "wouldn't surprise me if vagabond is a stooge for Paul Barber".

In the world view you've been presenting over the years:

All the club does is shit and anyone supporting anything the club does is working for Paul Barber, who is the human incarnation of Satan.

Meanwhile, the club has spent eight straight years in the biggest league in the world, expanding the stadium, built a reputation that brings some of the best young players in the world to the club, and so forth.

When I say I know know/understand football better than "other people", it doesn't mean that I'm sort of oracle. In many cases, like yours, I can compare the idea that the club is doing everything wrong to what has actually been accomplished, and with a conclusion that takes about 2 minutes to make, I can decisively put you in the category of people who are absolutely clueless about football/football business. And I don't mind saying it loud.

Most of that you've just made up in your head. I know very well Bozza isn't a puppet, he just has to stay on side of a very controlling football club. The Academy is obviously the way to go, I grew up in the 90s and in this country academy footballers were kind of a big thing...

What you don't understand is being a football fan of your local team and the emotions that go with it.

Yes, i have had a lot of frustrations with Barber over the last decade. But i still think he's one of the best in the business. Because unlike you, I can see that things aren't black and white.

Is this thread still going?

f*** me! What are you all talking about???

Haven’t you noticed? We’ve got a new manager.

Let it go.
The objective of this thread is to address the question… was he sacked?

Anyone know?

Potter was the evolution of the club, we had 2 season under CH and the board wanted the academy players to be utilised. He laid some good foundations and gave talented players game time.

RDZ played an exciting high tempo upgrade on tactics which achieved our highest ever finish and took us on a European tour. However it all started to fall apart when players stopped putting their studs on top of the ball

I have not really been following but i think its now an 'argue to the death' thread for Swanny's glorious attrition victories
