Ah you just want people to happy clap regardless, ok then.

Is merely arguing that the response to Saturday and only the 3rd defeat since March - should be to avoid making wholesale changes in tactics, players and approach and perhaps be patient with RDZ before making a conclusive verdict - happy clapping ?

Adam Webster's thoughts on the game -

“Roberto [De Zerbi] has got his own ideas, which he’s getting across well – but it’s going to take a bit of time,” said Webster.

“As a group, we’ve only had one full week to work with him, but you can see it’s coming together. There were some very nice patterns of play against Spurs and we created some good openings, but just lacked that killer pass.

“He wants us to dominate games from the back. It’s all about how we can react off the pressure that comes to us, make space and then get our midfield and forwards on the ball. It’s enjoyable playing his way. We have to take risks but as long as we are in the right positions and do the right things on the ball we will do well under him.”

Patience required but I must admit to a slight feeling of unease based around the language issue leading to a distancing between players and the coach and a possible inability to communicate "in the moment" - two areas where GP was particularly strong

Anything that remotely resembles pragmatic objective thinking is happy clapping it would seem.

What language issue? He already seems pretty fluent in front of cameras. He seems to be communicating fine from the touchline in the moment. It's one area that now we've seen and heard him for a couple of weeks, doesn't seem to be an issue at all.

Lets see.

If you've any reporting, interviews that backs this up then do share them ...otherwise, apropos of nothing, arguing that there's a "distance between the players and the coach" is insulting to both them and the coaching team.

Having not been to either game - and with zero experience in professional football - I'm sure Zeberdi made naive mistakes in team selection and tactics. Potter definitely wouldn't of been out-thought by Conte.

You should go to games with Junior, you'd have a whale of a time together
What huge over reaction for basically saying why change things to much? Sensitive little souls on here I will have to remember that in the future. Discussing the game on the bus back to the PR most thought the same we over did the passing around the box and found a frustrating evening of football.

Nah you are negative 90% of the time, takes all sorts so carry on but maybe remember some of us are quite enthusiastic, if that makes us happy clappy, I can live with that, happy to give De Zerbi more than two games against top six sides to get his ideas across too.

Show me one post where I have slated the new manager? I was discussing what I watched on Saturday

I'm all for being able to play the ball out from the back, its a very important skill to have. To religiously do it in every single scenario, however, simply removes the element of surprise in the match. The opposition know what we're going to do, so they set up for it. Which makes it much harder to do. I prefer the ability to mix it up, for the opposition to not know what to expect.

On the other hand, I suppose the rewards are higher. If they've got 3 or 4 pressing, and we still play through them, then the spaces are bigger for the attack.

I guess every tactic has teams it works great against, and teams against which it doesn't look so hot. Spurs are pretty good at negating any kind of positive tactic.

This

What is the difference between a happy-clapper and a Licker I wonder?

I am happy to give De Zerbi all the time he needs. It took Potter nearly 3 seasons to get it right!!

Havnt got an issue with playing at the back…but yesterday we seemed to almost be doing it on our own goal line…they pressed us and at times forced us to play it long and lose it…a few times Sanchez (and I’m not having a go at him) plays it to a player on the edge of the box who’s facing his own goal with a Tottenham player snapping at his heels, what’s that all about

Noticeable difference..DZ moves around his technical area a lot lol

This is de Zerbi's way of playing. It's to draw the opposition into a high-press that creates space in more attacking positions. We were actually pretty good at it on Saturday. It's brave, progressive and exciting and ultimately, something we're going to have to get used to as fans.

I was suprised and pleased that I could see the changes already in how we are going about things after literally a week's training.
We deserved something from the game. Pretty pleased all in all on first look.
