Amazing the vitriol on here about the only manager in BHAFC history ever to deliver those incredible moments.

Yes he's a flawed individual. To misquote the bible: He who's not got a bit of a dick tendancies, throw the first post.

Almost as bad as the anti-Potter rhetoric.

Both had their good points and both were not perfect. Hughton after Hyypia absolute dross was brilliant. Potter after CH relegation fodder football, was a revelation. RDZ after Potter toothless attacks was phenomenal.

I loved them all at their times.
Just speaking personally here. Whilst RDZ did take us to our highest league position he pretty much gave up after Rome and when he knew the club wasn’t going to break their model and buy the players he wanted. He also criticized the players and the owner and made everything about him. This lack of professionalism, imho, cost us league places and the millions which go with this. No wonder Bloom and him parted way. Whilst I’m grateful for the European trips, his tenure left a sour taste. He hasn’t done himself any favours in Marseille either.

No vitriol, anger, whatever, from me….just an observation.

As an aside, I don’t have any issue with Potter. He turned the squad around from the defensive Hughton team and quit as we were scoring for fun and set up to finish 6th.

And in related Potter news, whatever happened to 'Swanny'? Did the pitchfork mob drive him off here again for being a fascist/communist/Buddhist/Mormon/Cult of Davidian branch member/dope smoker/other?

Hasn’t been on here since the 27th of October apparently.

“The pitchfork mob” didn’t drive him off previously either, under his Swansman name he was permanently banned, after several warnings, for a drink and drug fuelled anti-Semitic rant which went on for about ten pages. He has nobody to blame but himself, but was allowed to come back provided he stuck only to football topics.

He's been posting on here as @Han Solo . He also has a very funny BHA blog. Haven't seen him for a couple of weeks but he's a very busy man.

Just contrasting the two reactions.

De Zerbi is box office. Graham is someone who works in a box office.

It’s a shame RDZ’s got a couple of sex cases playing for him as this would otherwise be tremendous entertainment that would inevitably end with him or their fans spontaneously combusting.

Meanwhile, at Brighton, where it matters, we’ve finally got the balance right after two extremes.
I would have said the two extremes were Hughton and RDZ, with Potter in the middle - referring of course to our playing style. Character wise you’re probably bang on. Roberto being the best firework in the box - loud, illuminating, spectacular and then fizzles out.

Funny. And oh so predictable. Bell end ego maniac.

He’s really not as good as he thinks he is.
He was the best we have ever had in our history so yes he is a top class coach/manager to say he’s not is just silly. I always remember Declan Rice saying I don’t ever want to feel like that on a football pitch again their patterns of play made it impossible to get near them.

He Provided the best football any Albion fan has witnessed young or old.
Whatever views you may have you can’t take away that from him Brighton in the Europa league was incredible.
Before our unprecedented injury pile up we had started last season like we had finished the last no injuries that season and who knows.

Still reads like a drama queen to me. Absolutely no need to repeatedly mention resignation…unless you want drama.

True, but reading the first few posts gave me a different impression than reading the full quote.

Well aware, H but I thought he'd got into another ding dong as HS more recently, the usual NSC wagons circled again, and the redskin bandit was driven off into the Sverige hillsides/savannah to lick his gunshot wounds.

The best year of watching the Albion - ever. 2023 had so many unbelievable matches to savour from January to December. Let’s forget the 2024 January to May bit.

It's a total nonsense for him to be bringing up the idea of resigning at this point.

But then, some people on here were insisting he was definitely not flighty and going to leave us after less than two seasons just days before he did exactly that, and months after it was obvious to most people that that was what he was going to do.

I'm surprised nobody's claimed it's a translation error and he actually meant to say that he's going to stay there for the rest of the decade through thick and thin. :lolol:

Still miss Roberto, never a dull moment.
I certainly miss the team of the 22-23 season, where we had two of the best centre mids in the Premier League and could go from losing 1-4 at home to a team in a relegation battle to winning 3-0 away at a team challenging for the title. I don't miss the second part of the subsequent season, where his limitations as a coach and manager were exposed somewhat and he seemed to give up trying.

I loved him once.

But he's a Pound Shop Mourinho.
I still do. Yes his tactics were win or bust, but his unique brand of attacking football kept us all on the edge of our seats.

Remember too that he is the only coach tus far who has brought European football to the club. l would be the last person to ridicule the way he plays.

True, it didn’t suit TB & PB although was he wrong? He said to keep the season alive we need 3-4 quality signings in January he got handed the prospect Barco.
None of us know what really went on behind the scenes although he wasn’t backed really in any transfer window whilst he was here. That probably would have pissed off many coaches who had achieved European football for a club like ours knowing how much the club had banked in player sales.
