I start the engine 5mins before I am ready to leave, turn the heaters on full blast.
No need to scrap the windscreen and the car is nice and warm !!
Isnt that really bad for the car to start it and leave it idle though

Why not just cover your windscreen ....old bath towel the night before?
Heated front screens are a joy. Sit back, listen to the radio and let the car do it for you!

Because a German will be lying on it first thing in the morning.

I have a big problem with the inside of my windscreen getting icy / condensation. Anyone know any way to prevent this?
You've got water in your car - either dry all your shoes boots before you get in - or you've got a leak somewhere - rubber seal? cloth convertible? old classic (like me) with holes in the floors?
It's a 03 plate, isn't convertable and I haven't noticed any leaks or dampness. I did have the windscreen replaced and I think I've only really noticed it after then, so I'm guessing that it might be something to do with that.
It's doesn;t help that the rag I have just smears the screen
Then go back indoors to finish your cup of tea and somebody nicks the car.
Exactly. Takes about 20 seconds to clear my windscreen. All you peasants need to buy a proper car. Scraping the windscreen is soooo school car run in the 1980s.
