Era stato seguito a più riprese da Milan e Napoli, ma il suo futuro difficilmente sarà in Italia. Nunez, talento classe 1999 in forza all'Almeria, dovrà scegliere tra Wolfsburg e Brighton. Il club tedesco ha pareggiato offerta da 20 milioni di euro.

This shite is getting real.

Us v Wolfsburgo - Both offered accepted bids of 20m, now down to the player.

Hmmmm, us or Wolfsburg? They finished 7th in the Bundesliga, so have not qualified for Europe next season.Their stadium seats 30,000. They have some recent success including winning the Bundesliga in 2008-09, the German Cup in 2015 and last qualified for the champions league that season. Since then have finished 8th, 16th, 16th, 6th and 7th. We play in the Premier League.

I believe they have qualified for the Europa League.
The Bundesliga is THE place to go if you're young and want to make a name for yourself.

They were the one team I felt the Albion might have trouble matching. (to think one of the other teams was Ben-flipping-fica)

His Uruguayan club Penarol has a British link in its creation...

On September 28, 1891, employees of the Central Uruguay Railway Company established the Central Uruguay Railway Cricket Club (CURCC) of Montevideo, with the purpose of stimulating the practice of cricket, rugby football and "other male sports" (literal from the Spanish).
The Central Uruguay Railway company had operated in Uruguay since 1878,[2] with 118 employees, 72 British, 45 Uruguayan and one German.[9] The club was known as CURCC in the neighborhood of Peñarol—the latter from the Peñarol neighborhood, about 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) from Montevideo,[2] whose name in turn derived from an Italian city. The club's first president was Frank Henderson, who remained in that position until 1899.[10]
In 1892, the CURCC shifted its focus from cricket and rugby to association football.[11] The football club's first game was against a team of students from the English high school and ended with a 2–0 victory.[9] In 1895, Uruguayan footballer Julio Negrón was chosen as the team's first non-British captain

A lot of the oldest European and South American teams do.

Also if he’s keen on the Premier league and living in England. If we get him our squad would be looking very good.

I don't think the pull of the Premier League can be understated.

If you're a young lad living in Uruguay then watching Suarez tear up the Premier League must be a massive influence on you.

They HAVE qualified for the Europa League 2020/21. They enter the competition in the 2nd Qualifying Round - same stage as Spurs and AC Milan.

There are no Uruguayans in the Wolfsburg squad, but there are 3 Brazilians and a Spaniard. We have 2 Colombians, a Brazilian and an Argentinian.

Wolfsburg is quite a good stepping stone club - they've had De Bruyne, Draxler, Schurrle, Perisic, Mandzukic, Mario Gomez, Bas Dost all pass through in recent seasons.

A quick look on Wiki shows there have been very few Uruguayans in the Bundesliga, whereas there have been plenty in the Prem in recent years: Miguel Britos, Martin Caceres, Seb Coates, Abel Hernandez, Gaston Ramirez, Cristian Stuani, Torreira plus Luis Suarez, Diego Forlan and - of course - the inimitable Gus Poyet.

You would fancy Wolfsburg based on size and history. However surely we can pay more than them in wages, let's go all in.

Exactly.

The reason why there are clubs called River Plate (not Rio de la Plata), AC Milan (not AC Milano) and Athletic Bilbao (not whatever this would be in Basque).

Juventus play in black and white stripes because of Notts County. Athletic Bilbao and Atletico Madrid in red and white because of Southampton.

British railway and port workers went all over the world in the late 1800s/early 1900s and set up sports clubs, and were one of the main reasons why football is such a global game now.
