Darren Currie - An Apology?

If he is a winger then I am a former dutch marine................

He hasn't beaten anyone for pace yet and he is all left foot.

So why does McGhee persist playing him as a right winger.

having said that he was miles better v Covnetry than he was v Plymouth

is a winger of the different sort ..not pacey but accurate with the cross and the pass.. still looks a bit slow /unfit for my liking but will come with more games /training

Sorry, but I still think he's pretty pants, and am desperate to be proved wrong.

He made a few good passes and looked a different player than against Plympouth, but I still have big doubts. He is not match-fit, that's for sure, lacklustre in the 50/50s or even 60/40s and would have been my first choice for coming off on Saturday, as well as against Plymouth where he was truly dire. Was shocked he got man of the match.

Still, we got the point, and overall played a massively improved game. Can't quite help thinking Mghee's off his head in turns of substitutions though - why when you're one-nil down, take off two of your attacking players? Poor old Jake had a blinder on Saturday, but he can't be expected to play on his own up-front. The equalizer was lucky, not through Mghee's tactics.

How can you be a winger and have NO pace....

If he was playing centre midfield then I'd have far less to moan about,

but if he plays wide he has to have pace. Otherwise he's always just defending an overlapping full back

Once Coventry worked out there was no threat if they kept him on the ball on the right root there was no pint keeping him on.

Oh, and he missed a sitter of "Mooney-esque" proportions (or was that Hinshelwood, they are so difficult to tell part)

What makes me laugh about this board is it's okay to totally celebrate a great player after one good performance but we're not allowed to berrate him after two shockers?

Personally I was very impressed with him on Saturday and long may it continue. BUT he needs to put in a performance like that every week for us to contend at this level. Remember we only drew.

Well done Currie, now keep it up.

BUT we do need players that have a go at the spectacular... [/B]

What's spectacular about putting the ball into Row M? I'm sure it would be row Z if the poxy Withdean was big enough to have one. I'd like to give the guy more of a chance but the praise is so far from the truth on here it makes me and a number of others obviously wonder if we're watching the same side. Been to all 3 games so far this season and seen nothing but a bloke needing to improve on his fitness yet. Agree with East London and others in that respect. Definately not 1st division standard but unlike many of the other unproven players in our squad I think it's too late for him to change. Love to be proven wrong but don't think I will be.

David Beckahm has no pace but he has been Man Utd and Englands right sided midfielder for 10 years.
Ypu dont have to beat your full back or go past people to play there.

And for ten years he has been moaning about being played out of position.

That dosent mean he dosent play it better than anyone else though.

No point being able to run past the full back if you cant cross it.

Currie is a very good passer and crosser of the ball.

Currie is there to get the ball and make telling, threatening passes. In my opinion he does that very well. He's not there to run at people or be Charlie.

His pass to give Jarrett a one on one with the keeper at the beginning of the second half v Reading was absolutely brillaint. If he can do that with Knight back he will be a major provider of goals.
