Excellent news and surprised at one year.

I think that if they believe Andone is back to what he was, then Welbeck, Andone, Maupay and Zeqiri may be our striker options with a new wide atacker being added. We'll know soon if Andone stays or is released. Isn't his current contract up this summer ?

Andone has 2 more seasons on his contract.

I have no idea if he'll stay but there is a 17 day shop window between the season starting and the transfer window shutting which could showcase whether he is fit enough for a move.

Bit of a gloomy assessment isn't it? To counteract it, I'm going out on a limb and saying that he'll re-sign for us, and do so soon. He's enjoyed himself this season, can see the club is well run and that we can cater for his needs (manager's tactics suits his qualities, gets recognition as wiser, elder player with PL experience and knowhow to pass on to others, excellent sports science and medical team, etc), and he's not only played more with us, he's scored more too.
I expect he'll get a two year deal too, either that or a one year with an option.

I'm bouncing my own posts Icy Gull. Another one of my bad habits.
It dragged on a lot longer than I thought, and am surprised he's only signed for one year.

He was taken off in the Man City game with a hamstring injury, so a 1 year deal seems fair enough to me. Obviously hope he is lucky next season in that regard. Quality player when fit.

This is an excellent and underrated piece of business.

Trouble is put Andone in the shop window and he does well, gets interest but proves to be what we need ? Unless the decision has already been made, in which case why would we give him game time ?

Don't you just love the summer. Never in the field of human sports has so much been said by so many who know so little

Great news and saves us some ridiculous transfer fee on an unproven forward coming in that no one had ever heard of.

Must focus on trying to strengthen the left back slot now, as well as Burn did in that role, we need a specialist in this area.

Like... Solly March.

Not sure there will be a left back signing.

Great news.

Taking everything into consideration, the first page of this thread makes for interesting reading :dunce:

I'm not sure either - the need (if need there is) would be for an out and out LB should we want to go 4 at the back. Solly and BDB are fine as LWBs, but neither of them is really suited for LB. I've got a feeling that might apply to Karbownik as well.

The only reasons that we wouldn't still need another striker is if Andone is fully fit and forgiven, and if Zeqiri is thought to be good enough already for 4th choice striker.

Connolly needs a loan away and that leaves us thin on the ground if Andone or Zeqiri aren't in the picture.

Obviously Locadia will be off somewhere as well.
