Big Dan is a dilemma. Great attitude, plays where ever he's asked and always gives 100%. The problem is that in the Premier League his true position is centre back but as people have mentioned we've got a surplus on that front. Playing him wide left just shows his limitations when he's over the half way line. His crosses aren't great and despite some skill for a big fella he's not going to be skipping by defenders. Sadly Bernardo has faded badly after a decent start and Potter now doesn't fancy him.

Burn does everything that is asked if him, he's clearly a great hard working professional. The only problem is that he hasn't got the ability to cross the ball into dangerous positions.
It's not his fault as he's not that type of player, he's a defender.

Is the correct answer. A very likeable square peg that we are trying to put in a round hole.

Are you saying that all defenders cannot cross the ball to somewhere round the 6 yard box ?

Good performance from Dan last night. A few decent crosses. I'll forgive him the horrible shank

Does his part by and large (no pun intended) in getting us up the pitch. Looking to others in last third surely.

Good solid CB being asked to do a job slightly out of position, he does it well enough to fend off everyone else.

I still think Bernardo is a better Left back, but seems to get worse the less game time he gets, same can be said for several players.

He is in the team because of his height and to help us match up against teams at set peices.

If you take burn out we only have two centre halves with any real height. White is fairly small for a centre back which leaves Veltman/Dunk and Webster as our only two players.

We struggled massively and I believe Potter has brought him in and will continue to do so for that reason.

No...he isn't very good in the air.

one could argue that a 6ft 7 in defender that is no good in the air is about as much good as a 1) chocolate teapot 2) tits on a bull 3) a technical team that cannot get a 6ft 7 in defender better in the air ...........its the Deepak Chopra principle .......you don't give a deaf dumb and blind kid a drum kit and you don't give a kid with one arm a piano .......for the sake of argument 20 k a week should be enough , if the coach says "Dan , you're gonna get better in the air " ffs he's only gotta get his feet 2 foot off the ground and he's nearly 10 ft up .....talk about not using potential.

The drummer from Def Lepard had one arm. He was good.

I said on another thread interesting what pundit said against Spurs when he thought it strange Burns didnt win any attacking corners. He said other forwards who are 6' jump 7' at corners Burn does the same and he is 6'7"
