I'm a red blooded male and I neither grope women or spend all day at work on xhamster.

But you're not an MP. They're all at it. Christ, if "Grey Man" John Major was biffing Edwina Currie then everything and anything is possible.

I think it is impossible to " Sack " an MP otherwise that could be regarded as un democratic and it would undermine the House of Commons completely. I think mostly they realise that if they have done wrong they either resign as a Minister or resign as an MP depending on the severity of the issue. I think that Green is an old school Tory and I think that if the furore around him does not abate in a few days , he will resign to save the government from further embarrassment.

I'd hope he resigns because what he did is a sacking offence in pretty much every other job and also given the responsibilities of the job. It's further proof that Tories have the sex scandals and Labour have financial ones. Gwylan and I are firm believers in this rule.

I can't believe that an organisation like the House of Commons don't have web filtering to stop this happening.

It's the lack of shame that makes this (and every Tory scandal) so funny. We are all doomed ants with horrendous flaws. Why not just admit it? Alright, it's extreme and he's keen not to get a sentence, and he might need to think about why his tastes are so grim and whether high office is really right for him if he can't control his willy and dubious desires. But he's in a party of vainglorious, inhumane pig-****ers. He'd almost definitely get away with it if he apologised righteously enough.

I have never looked at porn at work
Likewise. A couple of minutes online here and there you can understand, but watching porn at work, at the taxpayers expense? Doesn't seem right to me.

PS - No, I don't get paid by anyone else when I'm on NSC.

So yes I have never done what he has done so on that basis I am able to say he should be sacked, or at the very least be reprimanded.
Agreed.

I think i read that all the content was legal. As in many cases if it is proved he did do it, the cover up rather than the initial incident will be what does for him

I think I read the content was legal at the time but would not be now. As I understand it, in the meantime the law has changed to ban the type of porn that involves violent criminal acts. He should walk.

I don't think saying this is all a tissue of lies can save The Right Honourable Member for Ashford now. He's on a very sticky wicket.

Green was unlucky that the police seized his computer in 2008 as part of an investigation into Home Office leaks requested by the Cabinet Office. Green was not charged with any offence at that time, and there is no suggestion that he was viewing illegal porn.

His problem now it that he can't prove he wasn't looking at porn, and the statements of a retired police officer, diary notes about the incident that were presented to that officer's superiors are persuasive.

Can a bloke who viewed thousands of pornographic images at work in Westminster remain as Deputy Prime Minister? I don't think so, especially as most of the electorate would regard this as a sackable offence in almost any other workplace in the UK.

I read the whole reply, you said he should be fully investigated by the police in case any of the porn he's looked at is illegal. Why? It sounds to me like you suspect anybody who looks at porn to be looking at illegal porn and should be investigated.

No, not at all. But the nature of what was found on his computer has been described as extreme. I don't think we're talking A2M or PAWG here.

There have been examples of disciplinary action being taken. In 2012, the deputy leader of Leicestershire County Council stepped down after admitting watching hardcore pornography on a work laptop. In 2013, Welsh government data showed 55 staff members had been caught downloading legal pornography on their work computer in the past six years, with 15 disciplined for downloading images showing sex or full nudity.

If it wasn't him looking at the smut then he should be sacked for a breach of security as he was logged into a work laptop at the time and any kind of malware or virus could have been downloaded with the filth

From what the detective has said they found 1000s of thumbnail images in his temporary internet files, he wasn't downloading and creating a library of images. That obviously doesn't excuse him, it does highlight how much the media will twist things to make the story sound better.

If anything he should be sacked for not incognito browsing or bothering to clear up his temporary internet files !

The point about the length of time he spent browsing porn is just hearsay at the moment - the only evidence is the word of a disgruntled ex-copper who is breaking confidentiality rules in order to score political points, it's not exactly watertight.

It isn't acceptable at all in the workplace. We had a major blitz on this where I work some years ago, triggered by a single incident, which led to 11 people being dismissed for gross misconduct. As part of this the activity of an external contractor on our network led to police involvement and subsequent conviction. Since then we have released a much tighter policy on internet use at work and I am not aware of a problem since. We have better filtering software now in staff and public areas and if a site is blocked people can apply to have access which involves me and 4 others viewing and assessing the site and making a decision. So, technically, looking at porn is part of my job profile except that it is usually just legit sites that have been wrongly blocked.

I worked for a big telecoms company and they had an open view at the beginning allowing people to use the internet for personal use in their own time and then moderated it to state don't view what might be considered offensive that poses the question i what might offend you might not offend me e.g. a picture of a fox killed by hounds will offend me a picture of a topless woman wouldn't.

Good point, I can't recall a single MP who has been specifically sacked from their job as MP although plenty of MPs have resigned by taking the Chiltern Hundreds.

He could be sacked as a minister or whatever position he holds, not be elected at the next election, be de-selected by his constituency party, or just be put under pressure by whoever it takes to resign, I guess.

The trouble is you can genuinely make a mistake. I love cats and home baking so when I put in Pussies and creampies I was gobsmacked at what came up.
