What are the potential theoretical outcomes. Obviously Mike Dean's chums will say he got it spot on and did a splendid job, but could potentially he get the three game ban completely withdrawn?

Sadly this, no way it's going to be overturned because it means the FA would be admitting that their official made a costly mistake which dented our chances of getting a winner and promotion.

There's literally no point in the appeal system. The FA just back their own. Two straight red cards this season (Murphy and Stephens) and both were joke decisions which an impartial appeals process would overrule. Sadly, we don't have that.

Yes, it will either be appeal successful and no ban (0.01% likely), appeal rejected and ban still in place (90%) or appeal rejected and deemed frivolous so Stephens gets an extra game ban (9.99% if the FA really want to wind us up).

The FA will announce the result of the appeal shortly before going into the session to hear the evidence.

Found that quite funny but possibly true. giving the verdict before hearing the evidence. Remember I have sat on these appeals, granted some years ago but know how certain people are of the opinion that the ref must be right or he wouldnt have done it. Sure that is still the view of many and I wanted to give players the benefit but was usually outvoted.

We did have Calde's red overturned; although that was a very low profile game. Also, the panel just loved Calde.

Dale Stephens appeal

The get out clause Dean has it that he was only going to show a yellow but on the say so of the linesman he gave a red card therefore shifting all the blame onto the linesman

( and pigs might fly )

In theory they can actually add an extra game to the ban if the appeal is unsuccessful.

yes if its consider frivolous, to discourage every single card being appealed. cant see if a official biased system wouldnt acknowledge there is a case to be heard on this one. whether they can see the clear chronology of the events is what we wait on. and retrospective card for Ramirez hitting the ref ?

Calde visited the guy in hospital. Not even the FA is going to be hard nosed enough to suspend him.

Mr Pawson is one of our representatives at Euro 2016.

I don't normally suffer from outrage against poor officiating much longer than the weekend but this one will linger on and on and on I fear.
At least he won't be reffing England !!!!
