Interesting story and so on, but how is "Dale" a helpful thread title? I thought it might be about Rochdale. Not a pop at you but a plea to everyone - have a think about your thread titles please.

I see he gave himself up, so he'll probably get 2 years probation...... Just pre-empting the hang 'em and flog 'em brigade.

But seriously, although I am a wishy washy liberal, if he is guilty he should be put away for a considerable period of time.

And with all the anti-police rhetoric on numerous other threads this is a time to take a step back and appreciate that these boys and girls time and again put their lives on the line on our behalf. RIP to the officer who died and I'm hoping the other critically injured officer makes a full recovery.

Sentiments we all echo and well said.

Sky News now saying the other officer has lost her life.

Seems a bit odd they sent two unarmed female officers to arrest a chap who was wanted for murder. Can only assume they must have stumbled across him.

Either way it's not been a good week for the old bill in this country.

I would imagine it was just a routine address check of a friend or family member trying to gather information to try and locate him and he was found unexpectedly. With all those firearms markers against his name there is no way they would send unarmed officers to a location he was known to be at. A tragic result for the 2 officers concerned, at least the fucker handed himself in, he'll be banged up for a very long time.

It sounds as though there was a call of a person with gun shot wounds and somehow these officers seemed to be on the scene, maybe they where close and thought they could help i cant believe they would have been sent there knowing a shooting would have taken place.

But sky reporting sounds sketchy

Very sad news indeed. With a bit of luck they'll put him among some very large and randy inmates. The judge should finish sentencing with the words "you gotta purdy mouth".

Maybe those who posted on here recently that police officers are 'thick', get paid too much and have pensions that are too generous may think again?

R.I.P. to those 2 officers.

Why? Because 2 were killed?

Don't get me wrong this bloke should go down for life and is an utter scumbag, and the police put their lives on the line everyday, but the death of two police officers miles away from Brighton won't change these peoples minds.

Just saying.
