Here's my latest ebay experiment.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/giant-road-bike-/141323366422?pt=UK_Bikes_GL&hash=item20e7877016

Back in the old days I'd have said this would sell for just over £200.
Basically everyone would have set a price of £200 then it's just a question of who's going to blink last as the time runs out.
At that price it's a simple choice of 2nd hand Giant v new Carerra.
I'd have taken the Giant.

Maybe the world hasn't gone mad, after all.

It sold for £192, which I think is a fair price.

Ebay search 'road bike campagnolo' or 'Italain road bike'. You'll likely get something nice come up with a decent campag group set on a frame few have heard of for a much better price than the well known brands with fishing tackle on (SB brownie points ). If you go a handful of pages back here you'll see what I mean.

Welcome to My better half.

No not new had her about a 18 months now I wouldn't of posted a pic if everything wasn't matching. I couldn't of taken the abuse. :D

Excellent co-ordination. I'll leave the bar tape discussion to others.

However, do I spy one of those silly plastic discs sitting between the wheel and cassette?

I'm 6'3" and have a 58cm bike - plenty big enough for me. I'm comfortable on a 56cm, but not as comfortable as I am on a 58. 57 would be fine for you, I'd imagine.

OK, my current one is 21" but that's a hybrid so not sure how it measures up? Does that look a good deal?

Bit tatty perhaps?

Hard to say - the listing doesn't tell you much. Which makes me a bit suspicious. With 20 minutes remaining, I'd probably leave it...does look nice though. It may be fantastic, but the pictures don't tell you enough (no full on side view) and nor does the blurb.

Nah, leave it.

Chain looks good, anyone who knows how many miles certain parts have done and likely to look after their kit. I'm 6' and my 58cm Bianchi is fine. Really difficult to give you any definitive advice on whether a 57cm will not be suitable, as it's not always just the height that is affected by the change in frame size. I'd imagine it would be fine though...

This seems pretty good, probably too small for me at 6'1" though? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bianchi-M...1217961093?pt=UK_Bikes_GL&hash=item4621fd5485

Not sure how much you have to spend but Evans has a sale on road bikes ATM. They would also measure you up for the right size bike too.

I got My bike through a tax free bike scheme at work, not sure if this an option for yourself ?

Got myself one of these through my work's Cycle scheme the other day. A bit hipster-ish but is a lovely ride. My old bike is now gathering dust in the shed...
