Good morning geeks. I need to package my bike up for air freight. A cardboard box is fine. Are new boxes freely available from bike stores? I have done a bit of Internet searching but did not come up with much. I have previously obtained a used box from a shop but this was a long time ago and a shop I knew. I only have limited time in the UK so I prefer to buy one as opposed to phoning or dropping into shops hoping they have a spare used one for me. Any pointers will be appreciated.
All I can say is a bit of leg work and you'll definitely get one.
Fingers crossed it might even be from the first shop, but one shop will cough up a box.

Or you could just buy a new bike, and use the box that they send it to you in...

I think this is new to the web:-

http://www.goinggoingbike.com/

I've not looked, properly, but my become handy for when ebay disappears up it's own jacksy.

Re resto.

Cotter-gate is almost over.
I've managed to pull the whole thing, crank included, out and hand the mangled mess over to a colleague, with his own workshop .
I had a brilliant conversation with Nick @ www.hlloydcycles.com re decals.
He had no idea what bike I was talking about, so I showed him on google images.
Half an hour of discussing the decals colour and measuring followed.
Including how he'll have to make the 'F' and 'Y', I've got a full set of bespoke decals arriving very soon, all for £45.00.

The only properly knackered part was a 40 year old Huret 5 speed derailleur.
I've managed to pick up a mint condition one, from ebay for £16.

So it would seem I'm ready for the rebuild.
Naturally not quite, I'll be jiggered if I can get the rear cogs off, they're fine but desperately need a spruce up.

Sagan looking as strong as ever today in Tour de Suisse. A few riders showing some fine form here though. Shame NSC's finest crashed out today. Not sure how far down AS rode in again yet.

I'll ask in my local bike shop, they'll probably sort me (you) out. Have you got your car when you're back? So you could come over to get it?

Oh God, oh yeah, Sorry Moto.

Ditchling Beacon is really not that hard, all things considered, and there'll be no traffic. The traffic is what I hate.

And the slope.

:D

I'm gonna have to do something serious once I get the weekend out of the way. It'll be interesting finding when and where I start blowing.

What start time have they allotted you?

You have to get underway as soon as possible, and get out of town asap.
Ride as far to the outside as you possibly can, and keep going.

There's x amount of bottlenecks to and around the M25, chances are you'll not be blowing as you'll get caught up and will have unwanted rests.

Yes it's a charity fun ride, no it's not a race, yes it's a great event, no it's not in France.

You have the full spectrum of silly arses from people who haven't got off the sofa in 10 years, to lyrca road warriors.
The trick is to note the warrior ********s, and reign yourself a few notches below them.

If you can hook up will a couple of similar standard riders, easier than you think, you'll get through the traffic better, and have a great ride down to Ditchling from Ardingly. Just remember to do your share on the front.

Hove
Chapeau, Eddie! How far did they ride?

They did 2 laps of the Hove Park course (just the northern end cutting up before the tennis courts) for his age group. It's quite technical, and I could see him well ahead of the person he was racing against down the bottom half, but I think he lost it each lap on the tight bend into the climb. It was funny to see 2 6/7 year olds properly sprint for the line though. Eddie just edged out at the end.

Also, its the Brighton Mitre Club 'Hove Park Crits - Race 03' Friday night from 6.45pm. Some great racing to be had if anyone fancies popping along to Hove Park.

Nice one. Yes, I will have a van for Glastonbury so I can come and pick the box up. Thank you so much.

Goss second as per usual in a sprint, snatching defeat from the jaws of victory yet again. Superb bit of riding by Demare to take the win :clap2: No luck finding a video of it so far, but if I do I'll post it up because it's well worth watching.

Good job Jens didn't stay away until the end despite a valiant effort, or else it would have been twitter bits & bobs galore from SB all evening

Edit: Here we go. shame they don't show the over head replay on this clip as that's a great view of a superb move.

I've gone off The Jensie's feed.
He seems very tightly in bed with Trek USA, and we all know how that ends.

Thanks for the tips SB. I'm due off at 8.30, but hope they'll let me through if I'm there early. I've only done a few couple of hundred metres with other riders while out to date.
