Week to go to the Great Haywards Heath Bike Ride. 4 routes. Good luck to those who have signed up.
In simple terms, yes - 53/12 is far too big for youth riders. You could limit that bike to the 39t chainring and 13t sprocket fairly easily though.

TRACK RACING NOTE:
The Gear restrictions shown are the MAXIMUM gear you are permitted to use in each age group. Tyre width and tyre pressure will alter the distance travelled per revolution so riders are advised to always roll out the gear prior to a competition to ensure they are within the limits. You may use any combination of chainring and sprocket, providing you do not exceed the maximum distance travelled per revolution. Refer to the current BC Rule Book for any amendments.
The formula for calculating the gear in metres is:
Gear in metres = Diameter of rear wheel in metres × π (3.14) × No of teeth on chainring ÷ No of teeth on sprocket.
YOUTH A (Under 16) 6.93 metres
YOUTH B (Under 14) 6.45 metres
YOUTH C (Under 12) 6.05 metres
YOUTH D (Under 10) 5.40 metres
YOUTH E (Under 8) 5.10 metres
I've started getting my Uran and Henao's mixed up.I've gone for:
Sagan
Gilbert
Ulissi
Quintana
Henao
Leukemans
Terpstra
Geschke
Betancur
Was going to put a bet on but Stan James are not offering this market and I did not want to open yet another account on another betting site. Would have gone e/w on Quintana and Henao at 66-1 and 30-1 respectively.
Liking the Leukemans pick. I had him in as a sure pick at one point but rejigged and settled on Cunego instead because of price. Leukemans looked very strong on Wednesday, and Geschke too.
Ah Mr Schleck, I see you've dropped him from your team P.
I hope it doesn't come back to haunt you.
