I'll have a look at that, with my 3 kids though, it's not always easy making the time. As for 524th, that's out of 2744 people, with 6765 recorded rides up it on Strava - I wouldn't beat yourself up too much!!! :lolol:

I've never timed it, we're talking about Strava segment times. If you have a smart phone or GPS, you can record your ride with Strava (other apps are available) and it will compare your segment times against other people. I didn't know the time until I saved the ride at the end with Strava. It will look something like this:

As you can tell from some of the chats on here, for us amateurs it gives you something to race against and you can set certain goals for yourself. Does make it a lot of fun. Look at the bottom, there is even a North Stand Geeks group!!!

Keep up, BS!

Spreadbetting Seagull - if you're looking for more sportives, I was also looking at this one, which I guess isn't too far from you in Worthing...

http://www.meonvalleyriser.co.uk

Similar location, but this also looks good. http://www.qecyclefest.co.uk/road-sportive/

We should get some NSC Geeks jerseys made up!!!
The Meon Valley is really nice to ride around, marginally testing undulations, but hills you can really attack.
The first one goes a bit too far left for me to know.

But the shorter Hargroves one is a course I know well and one I'd definitely recommend, even if it does cop out and go right past Harting Down, and misses Burition Hill all together!!!

Thanks SB, my parents actually live in Denmead, so it's ideal for me to be dropped off, and then they can look after their grandkids and even come out to different parts of the route (I did have a little family fanclub at the top of the Beacon on Sunday which was great!). Love the Meon Valley, and it is through some gorgeous and very quiet countryside. Definitely think I might up my game and try the 'riser' 84 miles on the 7 April. In fact I'll probably do the Hargroves one in May as well.

The Hargroves 100km loop does look like a very nice ride.
They've cut out the massive climbs, all heading towards Butser, which is no Ditchling, it looks worse when approaching than actually riding.

Should you find yourself that way and wanting a spin.
Head back into Sussex, and loop back through Lavant, Chilgrove, Harting & Compton.

My only niggle with the route is going up into Compton.
Coming the other way it's a lovely descent and a great pay-off for getting over Harting Down.

Yeah whatever you do, don't wear gang colours.
Compton is a cauldron of social deprivation, drug misuse, ghettos, and racial violence, as you can see:-

Or to put it another way:-

Cav gives identikit pre big race press conference.

NSC fantasy team news has gone quiet though. I'm finding it hard to pick a team for this one. I was PC heavy, now I'm AR heavy with 4 DS's. I'm leaning on the view the conventional sprinters not making it through for a bunch sprint, last 2 races ending with an 8 and a 3 man group. Do the teams know how to handle the Le Mànie now? Or will the sprinters have adapted / worked out new plans for this?

As a novice to following the professional racing scene, I'm having trouble!

It won't be a bunch sprint.

Chances are it'll be very similar to the last racing stage of T&A.
The only difference being the 'other' riders won't tow Sagan to the easy finish.
But they also won't hang around for Cav to catch up either

Check out Cav's win in '09.

As a rule sprinters (well quick men) win, but not from a bunch.

There's a fine line between bunch sprint and select group.

There's a lot of fine lines in cycling I think! That was a great finish.

Anyway, for value I've gone Boonen over Cav for this one. While I'm being lazy, what time does the race start on Sunday?
