Only got it back home late last night. Needs a good clean up but here's a quick pic.
Great stuff, and we'll certainly see you coming!

You know what'll look nice on that...

 I clocked him on the Lance Armstrong thread too and thought he was prime for this thread. Could this be our elusive Vive la Pants from the fantasy game I wonder?. I still haven't figured it out. Teaboy is another option of course.

Sorry, not guilty. I'm a serial fantasist on other websites, but came across this a little too late in the season. Greetings to all fellow albion-following cycle geeks - who'd have thought!?

Not me either! Again, I failed to get in at the start so thought I'd wait for next time (probably to miss the start again!)

Welcome.

Only 2507 posts to read, then a few questions to answer, then onto The Official 2012 Tour de France thread, and off you go.

Anyone on here ride a fixed gear? Don't cally me a fixie hipster or any of that I just want one because they are reliable and easy, and cant walk far with clips on:annoyed:
I have a specalized allez 2012 (been on here before a while ago) but I want another bike just for popping to town or going to the shops with... nothing fancy & probably second hand. Might even build my own if I can get the parts and my head round it
Anyone done this? Cheers

Get a cheap hybrid or put skinnier tyres on a mountain bike or, at a push, build up a cheap road bike with flat handlebars and fatter tyres.

Fixed wheels are not practical for anything other than track racing. Apart from anything else, they're not particularly safe.

I've had my Trek S300 hybrid with Shimano Nexus Hub Gears for around 8 years now and never given me a problem. I've got 32mm tyres on it and it is still a very reliable run around with normal pedals.

oooo look at this little beauty, only in Hove! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hybrid-bike-Bianchi-Cameleonte-53cm-8-speed-shimano-Alfine-hub-gear-/290784974243?pt=UK_Bikes_GL&hash=item43b42295a3&_uhb=1

That is nice but will be a little out of my price range when it comes to the last day, I'll keep an eye on it though
I was thinking about getting my hands on a old (70s / 80s) frame then just putting a flip flop hub on it and get the gearing and chain length right
Anyone ever been to that cranks workshop in brighton? Was going to pop down there see if they had any frames

Noooooooooooooooo! Don't do it. For the love of all things logical don't do it (unless it is a track bike).

Of COURSE it's a bloody track bike! Will have front and rear brakes for road use, but will also go round in circles on occasion too. Off to Evans in a bit.

Fuji Classic

It's my new commute bike, winter bike, track bike. I shall ride it fixed, as nature intended. I'd need to spend at least £50 to make my current commuter rideable, and can't be arsed. I also want a new bike! :)

Build yourself something.

You won't regret it, you'll never need a repair shop again, youtube will teach you, and if all else fails one of us MIGHT be able to help.
Most cycling forums have good second hand parts sections.

This entire rebuild came in at less than £100 with the original wreck being £250.

Thank you I am very proud which is why I need no excuse to trot out a picture.
And also why Woodchip, P, 1066, Stoy, IL, HHI, et al are now all going:-

'For christ sake not again, I bet he can get that photo into the Jimmy Savile thread''
(sorry chaps)

Ebay, keep an eye on the broken/spares section (knackered wheels isn't broken).

The frame forks and wheels, are the only things left from the original.
I had a spare crank in the shed.

But rest, the saddle, stem, bars, brakes, gears, pedals, levers, along with the 2 new bits, cables and CELESTE bar tape, came in at around £100.
