As you say, only Degenkolbs to lose really in that field, but this start list Paris-Tours 2012 - Riders' list has Bouhanni starting so he has some competition at least as Soupe is there with him too. If I was going for anyone springing a surprise I'd go for Nizzolo as an outside bet.

Have good trip.

Pouring with rain as I listen to Seagulls Player about 30 minutes north of Tours, weather may suit a breakaway, however I see in the local press that they have extended the run in so much easier for the pack to catch anyone out front. Odd to see Sky have only entered 5 riders, hoping to see G as that lone escapee.

GOOGLE MAP or .GPX MAP CYCLE ROUTE - Hove to Amex

Given the search function through the site is still not working, does anyone have a good route they can post?

Many thanks

Had a great time yesterday, weather was really good and since then its rained non stop. One of the fastest finishes I have seen in ages, they came past right on the barriers brushing the crowd at what seemed track speeds.

We had a good spot on the 25 metre mark but was only good for one so we moved to around 150 metres and you can just see us and our Union Jack on the barrier (left as you look) at around 4.30 in the clip 1066 posted (where do you find this stuff).

Bar the Kolbs magnificent effort and he really paniced the leaders when he apperaed, Rider of the day Matthew Busche (USA) who rode over to a young kid in an Omega Lotto shirt and gave him his bottle after the race, always good to see.

Two photos one of some dirty bike street porn, and the other showing that SKY does'nt mind washing its dirty linen in public.

On more important news, we heard Vicky has already cried on Strickly Come Dancing, may have to get some money on the ballroom cyclist paving the way for CAV in the future, now he could really blub.

They couldn't have Cav, not unless he's one of the pro's.
He's way to good at ballroom to be on that show.

Judging by his prickly post event interviews, I'd imagine the judges might be too scared to have him on!
True, but he is a very good ballroom dancer, he could have turned pro!

Oh and re route, I'd say along the coast then up from Preston Park, past Mithras Hse to the ground.
There's cycle path pretty much all the way, then the long path straight up to the ground from the Uni.

Thanks. Also, where was that post of a climb up a lane you posted a while back, perhaps in the Tour thread? I've had a look for the post but couldn't see it. I'm venturing out a bit more into Sussex now on the new wheels and looking for different challenges, couldn't remember where it was?

If you are going straight up from your current favourite route, check out Cobb Lane, and The Wall.
If Google won't play ball they heavily feature in SRS events, rides.

A little west gets you up Steyning Bostal.

Further West has you playing around Arundel, Goodwood, & Duncton.

East I'm less knowledgeable but up and over the cliffs @, oh blimey my mind has goner blank, Seaford (?) is a nice challenge.
Certainly in that area.

I'm going to give Cob Lane a go as it works out a 50 mile loop from Hove with the Cob lane climb half way , followed by Ditchling Beacon at the end - which could see a broken man 3/4 of the way up!!!

My current favourite route??? You do use Strava then?

Yeah aren't you prone to head north taking in Henfield then up a bit before looping back over the Beacon.

Kids Hill is known as The Wall:-

Streetmap.co.uk- search results for 545780,132180

Personally I wasn't that impressed!.

If you can work out the loop instead of Ditchling come back through Henfield/Upper Beeding.
Instead of heading home down past the chalk pits turn right, straight over the roundabout towards Steyning village.
Just before, there's a sign sending you up Steyning Bostal, you won't regret it, well you will, but it'll make me laugh!

You'll end up on the A27, between Lyons Farm and the garage @ the traffic lights, so not a route for rush hour.
