My aim was to not be bottom of the league, so I'm happy!

My aim was not to go to the Carlton Kirby evening.

I've won!:D

:lolol:

I honestly dont know what people have got against CK....very funny and entertaining evening last night, in a great intimate venue. Picked up his new book too and had a chat with him afterwards...lovely fella. Much more animated and enthusiastic than Boulting & Millar IMO.

The organiser has two other events at the Nightingale Rooms coming up if its more your thing - another "in conversation" with journo Kenny Pryde next month (talking about Team GB & SKY), and a showing of "A Sunday in Hell" in March. When I know exact dates I will post them here.

Oh, and stage 3 of TDU was a shambles for my team...so defo wont be top anymore!!!

There's a new king of Willunga Hill....and he's an Englishman!

Chapeau Matthew Holmes  :clap2:

The Tour Down Under really is a great season opener. Particularly exciting this year I thought.

The new season has begun :O

I think Kirby is proper marmite.

Some of the stuff he comes out with is quite funny, I'll be bound, but generally I can't stand him. Laughs continually at his own jokes, squeezes 'Si Clarke' into every single commentary (must have some sort of running bet going on there), is generally pretty clueless, and it's always all about the Carlton Kirby show.

I'd be glad if I never heard him again.

For me no one beats David Millar. His tactical knowledge and insight is second to none. The fact that he's not too long retired from the peloton helps too.

In 6 to 8 weeks time.

I always used to think that, but over the years the TDU has really grown on me.

Straight into San Juan now for me :thumbs up:

This years edition of the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race was just like watching a Spring Classic.

Well worth a watch I'd say and perfect to get us in the mood for Omloop, when the season proper starts

Well, what beautiful scenery Saudi Arabia has, said nobody ever.

Only point of note seems to be quantity of disc brakes on display. Not on the lovely green De Rosa though.

Interestingly, I spotted on Saturday that Ineos were using standard rim brakes in the Tour of Valencia, when all the others I saw were on discs. I thought they would've been leading the way with the disc technology tbh.

Great few days of racing in Spain last week. Well worth catching up on if anyone missed it - and much more scenic than Saudi. My god those Middle East races are dull as dishwater. Basically a training camp for teams to fine tune their lead out trains....

Pogacar...the new(ish) & next(?) Evenepoel. Hes gonna be the one to watch for sure this season after his great end to '19 & start to '20.

I know some of you cringe when the letters M T and B crop up every now and again...but I've been out on that more than the road bike this year so far and really enjoyed it.
Took this photo last week on my way home - wont be long til the evenings are light enough for a couple of hours on the bike after work....whether thats on tarmac or trail :O

I know 1066 is looking forward to the start of the season at Omloop...but the Tour de la Provence starts this week on the 13th, and is bound to be a beautiful looking race with quite a few top names riding.
Its a tough looking route this early in the year, including Mont Ventoux on Valentines Day - but worth a watch surely?! I know GCN Racing are showing it live every day on their YouTube channel...not sure about Eurosport though.

Besides, anything that has a leaders jersey that gives a nod to Bernard Tapie & the 80's La Vie Claire team, AND involves Marion Rousse (just split from Tony Gallopin, lads!) has got to be worth it, right?!?

Surely Tesco knows who was driving!

That was my thought, and I suspect that was how he was caught, but the story doesn't really go into that much detail about Tescos' actions regarding the driver beyond them accepting responsibility. I'd like to think he lost his job, if not for the driving then the reputational damage from his refusal to nominate, or for failing to secure his vehicle (if his claim is that someone else stole it).

That popped up on my twitter account yesterday as well.

Sadly it didn't really register beyond 'i'll post that next time we have one of those thread', as it's a pretty regular occurrence.
