Between the choice of carbon with Tiagra, or aluminium with Ultegra, what would be the collective decision here?

Anything with Campag.

You're welcome 👍

I would go fo the carbon/Tiagra combination.

I have Ultegra on my 'best' bike and Sora on my other. The Sora is fine, never had a problem in 6 years. The Ultegra is lovely, but I'm not sure it makes that much of a difference. Tiagra is obviously a step up from Sora.

The difference between aluminium and carbon, though, that is immense. IMHO.

Plus you can always update the fishing tackle piece by piece.
I believe all the reels, floats, line etc are interchangeable.

Taking an aluminum downtube out and replacing it with a carbon one is usually frowned upon.

I had a chain off, on the rollers this morning. Only I could do that.

In other news, have a mooch in your local Halfords. I bagged an extra commuting T for £10.

I always have a quick look if Im in there. Last summer I picked up a Ridge jersey that was reduced - & it went through at an even cheaper £2.80!! Perfectly adequate for my riding.

Woodchip, is postage prohibitively expensive?
Fignon's Ponytail, nice one. Another open goal for you: I paid £4 for arm warmers from Prendas.

Lights. Again.

After all these years, I reckon my front light shenanigans are over. It may not look pretty but the combo of my 'be seen' Aldi and the super over secured 747 landing light (or Chinese torches) 'see' are now in harmony.

Fukken back lights taking over the FML mantle. Both have developed a 'on and off when we decide, not you, you kunnt' life of their own. Cateye can do one (again), but I'll stick with the annoying (what the fukk battery is that and specialist tool to swap them required) Hun one as back up. In the post is a Knob Blinder Mob The Face. Such a stupid name can only guarantee reliability.

The landing lights are so good, I'm contemplating an all nighter at the summer solstice.

Just picked up my new ride. I know Stat won’t approve of the fishing tackle components, but the bike was designed in Sussex.

What have I done?! Signed up to do LEJOG in sept, Deloitte ride across Britain. 980 miles across 9 days. Anybody on here done it before or even signed up for this year?

I've done a solo JOGLE and it was by far the best thing I have done on a bike. Loved it.
The Deloitte ride is quite a different experience to how I did it though, but will be amazing in it's own way.

It’s a Venturi. What one have you got?

I bought the terra gravel hydro in Dec 17. It's a commuting workhorse for me with full guards and a pannier rack. We've covered 4,000 miles in the last 14 months and my experience is:

1) It's at the road end of gravel genre, so I can go off road, but it's capable on fast flat roads into London
2) I love the 105 shimano kit normally, but it's been a bit "fishing tackle" on this bike:
- Jockey wheel seized in week 3
- rear hydraulic brake failed in week 2
- pad retaining pin seized on front brake
3) I destroyed the Fulcrum DB7 wheels as the spokes kept snapping, so I had to buy some Hunt wheels and shod them with Pirelli tubeless tyres
4) My toes interfere with the front wheel when steering at parts of the pedal stroke
5) I should have added frame protection on day 1 where the internal cable comes out of the down tube and around the head tube
6) If I had added a spare der hanger to my toolkit that would have saved me a long walk one day.

All things considered it's great to be riding a British designed bike and I look forwards to hearing how much you love your Orro. Having seen your pic, I'm beginning to wonder if I need a new "best" bike. My 2014 Moda stretto with narrow tyres and rim brakes is so dated!
