:lolol: Kirby upon seeing some of the riders get their feed bags just said goodbye to Sean Kelly's stint on air by saying 'Sean is off now to get his own nose bag'..

Sorry, but I spat out some lunch...:rave:

p.s. Les Lacets de Montvernier is stunning.

Back in Sussex
David Millar had a nice bit about this in his blog. He had gone down to the finish to see what had happened to Cavendish and found it fairly deserted apart from Rod Ellingworth, now at Sky but previously the British Cycling junior coach. Millar asked him what he was doing there and he said he was waiting for Cavendish because “I feel responsible for this. I always told him you don’t stop out of respect for the race.”

He pretty much said the same at the start of the ITV4 coverage, also saying he was going to take a photo of Cav coming up the road but decided it wasn't the right thing to do.

Just look at that bartape.

I would put up a picture but as the boss is loitering I'd better adhere to the no porn policy.

So I went on holiday last year and forgot my shoes so ordered a pair of dhb ones from Wiggle as I thought I'd have a cheap pair for winter weather. The difference between my cable fastening specialized shoes and the dhb felcro straps and the overall comfort is easily the £60 price difference between the shoes. I have these in 2013 version. . Not that you were asking for a shoe recommendation as such.

Well Bold I've gone for those shoes, they seem to be some of the cheapest shoes around, not bad for a pair who's original RRP was £217.

They're even cheaper than these:-

Shimano SD500 SPD Sandal which Evans have for £72. double  + = :lolol:

Amazing stuff again.

Current odds:

Froome - 11/10
Thomas - 6/4
Dumoulin - 10/1
Everyone else - almost no chance

If Nibs is more than 10/1 then that's where my money would be going if I was betting on this race.

He looks in really good shape and has a habit of finding a way to win when everyone thinks he's no chance.

Scrub that about Nibs. Only just finished watching the stage back and was impressed the way he caught back on after the crash. Subsequent news reading however reveals injury is pretty bad and possibly tour over for him :(

He's out, fractured vertebrae. Like Neymar in the football though, he got straight back up, on his bike and caught up with the leaders - with a fractured vertebrae.

It did occur to me before the off yesterday, honest, that Roglic (sp) has the best chance of a podium from those with no chance.

I think you'll find Neymar is so tough he played this world cup with both legs broken, and didn't even mention it.

Despite the niceties, could this be another battle of '85!?
TBH even if that did play out I think Froome would be justified in playing the 'I wanted to make sure he was worthy of the jersey' card that Bernard Hinault played, G just doesn't have Grand Tour pedigree.

Froome will be itching to ride off, and presumably Sky will let him given his pedigree.

Thomas' best chance of winning overall, assuming he doesn't crack, will be Dumoulin chasing Froome down if/when that happens.

Edit: of course what happened yesterday

There is a sense that Thomas rightly has gone all out for the stage wins, but Froome is so experienced, that he knows better than to go too deeply in the middle of the race. Was he holding back a bit knowing there was no point going all out with so far still to go. Having said that, G didn't actually look like he'd gone to the limit to win the last two stages. On previous occasions you can see he has gone really deep, but he's actually looking, dare I say it, comfortable.

If the challengers fall further back, going to be very interesting how Sky play it. It would be fascinating to watch the Sky train work for both, then just let the two of them battle it out.

Let's not forget Froome raced the Giro, for which he had to turn himself inside out but, crucially, still knew how to win it.
Whereas G has had a 'typical' Tour run up.
